Hmm ... ... well, the law was the law - and homosexuality , a criminal offence, back then - so it isn't easy to know what to think/say, without appearing to show some degree of partiality.

They broke the law as it was then.
Are we to go back and pardon all those burned for witchcraft, or those transported to Australia because they were in breach of laws 200 years ago ?
I find all this hugely expensive, retrospective, self-indulgent navel-gazing pretty objectionable to be honest, considering that female circumcision and other barbaric practices are being swept under the carpet in this country TODAY.
