's one of the MAIN news items among today's BBC headlines. Could I be missing something perhaps?
Is the sunken vessel full of Nazi gold? or alien corpses?

Arthur, I can't see in the link where anyone is buying it. Maybe they are just getting it out the way to make more room for bigger ships to birth in the harbour. People get funny about raising vessels like this as they always say it is a grave for those who might have died, but really... Let's float the Titanic

Fascinating.
That steel must be worth a few bob also.
I have been to Sri Lanka (then called Ceylon) on a passenger liner too... on our way home from Singapore, back in 1958.
We had a day out in Colombo, and watched an 'Elephant Dance', as well as buying a few souvenirs.
