Israel to take over West Bank land
I wonder what Cameron will tell them
Israel has announced plans to expropriate 4 sq km of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.
The settlements are considered illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this.

It's about time Obama grew some balls and put his foot down, but he won't, as he doesn't want to turn the Jewish voters against the party, and bugger up Hilaries chances of winning the next election.

Maybe they are going for straight lines on their border and taking out the large pocket on that side of Israel.
Lots of countries must have been formed by stealing territory, China has stolen whole countries and Russia does land grabs in months.

Can you imagine what would happen in Palestinians went into Israel and took 4 sq.km of land by force.
Israel said they are doing it because of the kidnapped kids who were killed!!! They just wiped out over 2,000 people, and destroyed the homes of over 60,000 people for that.... and they want land as well?Keith Driscoll - Administrator

Leave aside the family history and religious holy sites that may be there, the middle east has vast areas of desert that could be put to use for people to live on. Money could have changed hands and compromises made.
Israel in 70 years has turned a mostly desert area into land producing food, wine but are desperately short of water. They got over it with desalination plants.
All these oil rich Arab countries, despite having 100 plus years of oil money have not made the best of it for their people. Big glass skyscraper cities but little done to the deserts. They could make life so much better for their so called brothers, give them something more productive to do instead of sitting around plotting jihad wars.

Good post Pete. I asked something along those lines when I worked in Saudi in 1995. My impression was that they really didn't care that much for their Palestinian "brothers."

All the vast wealth from the oil-furnished golden palaces with gold tiled floors to ceilings. Maybe they should share some of the wealth

Well in that case all of the rich should give to all of the poor
We talking about extremes here,The money some of the Arabs have would fund a small Army.

Under Labour the rich do give more to the poor.
The oil rich stakes have to invest heavily for the future, as oil reserves are finite. When it runs out, they have no income, and only sand to sell to the Arabs . They are not all rich either, remember UAE went bust in 2010.Keith Driscoll - Administrator

I could post a whole host of reasons not to vote Labour again, but I have decided to let some things go and not always have the last word - so I'm not going to argue on this one like I always do.

It's the same land type in Jordan & Egypt so why don't they grab that? Oh yeah. They have armies to fight back with The West Bank isn't allowed to have an army under Israeli occupation, as it may cause a war

I dont think armies bother them, They wiped the floor with them all put together last time.
They are not into grabbing countries, only securing borders, I dont blame them for that seeing how most of their neighbours want to wipe them off the map.
As I already said, they have probably bought most of it off the landowners. Also the river Jordan is a big plus so they secure the source of the sea of Galilee

Yes Pete people seem to forget that after they were formed in 1948 they were attacked on all sides. Since then basically certain countries have stated they should be wiped off the map. In other words every jew massacred.
Nice neighbours.

They are not trying to wipe out any countries, only murderous scum who think nothing of planting bombs on buses or in cafe`s and wiping out athletes in Munich. They cleaned up Lebanon and could have kept it, but withdrew back to the Golan heights. They have not got an army for occupying countries.
Rockets were being fired from Gaza constantly, it was only the Israeli shield that kept most of their population safe, when the rockets stopped they had a ceasefire. Simple solution, dont prod a bees nest.
