France to ship first wheat to Philippines in 12 years
A first cargo of French wheat for the Philippines in more than 12 years is due to load in the coming days, port sources said, adding to an unusual run of French wheat exports to far-away Asian destinations this season.

I'd have thought they would have gone for decent Aussie wheat rather than getting mugged for spurious French stuff

As I was once employed in the statistics dept of the old Ministry of Agriculture in London...sending out return forms to be completed by shippers/importers of various cereal crops, including wheat, I can tell you that most of the wheat WE imported from France in 1970 and 1971 was 'Durum Wheat'.
