    Registering marriage in the UK

    Hi

I got marrie on 21st jan 2008, got the cni ect from local registry office,..... no my wife has only recied the authenticated nso copy of the marriage cert recently.

My question is this, should I have by now, or do I need to register the marriage in the uk ? or is this already covered when I applyed for the cni before the marriage.

    Thanks

    Congrats skysky.

You can have your marriage documents deposited with the General Register Office (GRO) in the UK. As far as I can determine this isn’t compulsory, but it means your marriage certificate is kept by them as an official record and you will be able to easily get copies of it in the future. I am uncertain whether any other benefits can be derived from doing that.

no you don't need to, as a marriage abroad will be considered legal in the UK provided that the ceremony complied with the laws of the country you are married in, as already said only advantage is you can get a copy of it, but then you have to pay for it..

i cannot think of one advantage , but disadvantage it will not be on NSO sec paper
