Hi everyone,
I met mahal ko in Cebu last february, and i was instantly captivated by her.
I am going back to Cebu, in a weeks time, as I don't seem able to NOT to phone her on her mobile
many times a day. My T-mobile bills lately have been astronomical, so I will be taking a small computer along, preloaded with all what she might need to be in touch 24/7.
We are planning to marry next february, and bureocracy permitting, she will be able to join me in the summer of 2007, Here in Wrexam, North Wales.
I would like to know, if anybody knows of local (to Wrexham) pinay groups here. So that she might make friends and socialize with them while i am away for work.
Thanks
Dom

Can't offer any advice at all about Wrexham, I'm afraid, but you've brought up a topic that I think is useful. I know there are many Philippine people here in the UK, but my impression is that the majority must be in London and the south-east? I'd like to find something similar in my region (Sheffield/South Yorks) to provide some relief for Mel, but Filipinos seem a bit thin on the ground here, even at Meadowhall, which I would have thought would be an irresistible magnet
Anyway, good luck with your plans. Hope you've spent time researching on the forum to prepare for the task ahead

Well Rob lives in West wales, and I live near Denbigh, and plenty of Filipino's around here.
Just enjoy yourself for now, we could all be nuked by Iran in 2007 Regards,

welcome - take a look at Pete's web site to become familiar with the bureaucracy requirements
Pete has taken a lot of time to compile this very useful information source - start now gathering your information for her visa
for your phone - set her up with broadband at home and then you can chat - message and with a web cam see each other every day - save a log of all your messages to meet the bureaucracy requirements
Good luck for 2007 -

Ivor, we lived in the UK for over a year before my wife made any Filipino friends. She was getting quite lonely I think, but she had our daughter to occupy her time. She did meet an Indonesian girl who lives just down the road, nice girl, just a bit 'odd'.
Anyway, after bumping into a couple of Filipinos down the town one day she soon got into their 'circle' and discovered there were 20 or 30 in our area. She then meet some more while working as a care-giver in nursing homes.
She has a few good friends now, and a few non-friends too. (They were basically the gold digger type mentioned in other posts on the forum) I think you really do have to go out and search the good ones down, as you don't often see Filipinos out socialising or partying up in pubs, unless they are the type you DON'T want to meet. The decent ones generally keep themselves to themselves.

There seem to be quite a few filipinos here in N.Ireland. I guess with the north not being very big it would not be difficult meeting other filipinos here. It helps that a friend of Rhea is already living here and also there are a few members here on the forum also. Filipinos seem to make friends with other filipinos very easy no matter what country they live in.
