Renew passport
Got to renew passport sometime this year but looking at UK Passport web site it says you can only pay for passport in Pounds. I have no UK bank accounts as they closed me down because of no UK address. So, anyone know how to pay?????????? Also no one in UK to pay for me.

if paying through a Philippine bank or a card surely its the currency is changed at the point of sending so uk gets sterling ?, another suggestion is maybe a bank like BDO can send sterling for you ? or contact british embassy and ask how you can get round this
the UK passport web site you read was it based on renewal from UK or related to brits living abroad?

Don't know the answer, but interested to know how you get on , and how much it costs now... from the Phils.
Won't be long before mine needs doing...though can probably get my son in UK to actually pay (in pounds).
Do you have to send your passport off somewhere ? I don't like that idea.

I have previously renewed my British passport at embassies in Cairo, Bangkok, and Luxembourg.
It became a lot more complicated when they tightened up and centralised the process a few years ago
For the last couple of renewals I waited till I was back in the UK and was able to visit the Liverpool passport office for the same day service, now costs about 180 quid.
For my most recent application three months ago I applied online, completed the application form, uploaded my photo, and booked an appointment a couple of days in advance.
I arrived in Liverpool early and as there was a bitterly cold wind I headed straight for the Lion tavern, a traditional British pub near the passport office, that serves an awesome pint of dark mild.
Staff at the passport office were friendly and professional, there was nobody else waiting, my "interview" lasted five minutes, so back to the Lion tavern for another pint before catching my train back to Leeds.

Sounds good...and I only wish it was so pleasant and efficient a task here in the Phils.
One of the sacrifices us 'sunshine retirees' have to make of course.

Both myself and my wife have very recently renewed our British Passports from Philippines.
All done online. Posted to Liverpool via EMS. Old passports containing valid visa's were returned to us.
The whole process went as expected and in good time...No problems at all.
Sadly I cannot offer any proven solution on payment process....but this form appears to allow credit/debit card payments on internation basis:-

Sent my passport via EMS, they are part of Parcel Force worldwide. 1,797 pesos. Sent on 26th October and has still not left the Philippines. Log on to parcel force and it says we have your passport still in country of origin awaiting collection. Don't know if it will be back in time for AR report.

So bloody frustrating, I'm sure. What should be straightforward procedures.

Slightly off-topic, but...
I ordered a leather trouser belt from Amazon USA earlier this month.
Nothing happened for a couple of weeks, then:
- On Wednesday evening it entered the UPS system over in Pennsylvania,
- Thursday morning it departed Pennsylvania,
- Thursday evening it arrived in Castle Donnington,
- Friday afternoon it was delivered to me in Leeds by a smartly dressed UPS delivery driver.
Sure beats EMS.

Only use DHL in my opinion.
I could not fault their detailed online tracking and whole service in general.

Pretty certain I will Fred, when the time comes.
I've been looking at their website, getting a quote, etc.
They do have a pickup place in Dagupan... not so far from me too.
I think the extra cost and peace of mind will be well worth it for such an important document.
Still a lot cheaper than an air ticket !

How did you manage to pay in the end ?
I'm having trouble getting the Passport Office to accept payment now. Can't complete the online application procedure without paying first ! Aaaaaaaaaah !!!
Stupid damned system.
If they just gave me a reference number, I could easily have somebody in the UK pay them on my behalf.

Phew! Finally got payment acceptance using our BDO debit card.
Problem was that we hadn't approved a high enough limit on that particular type of card transaction...which I was able to correct in online banking.
Next, to go along to DHL and send off my old passport, along with a couple of copies of some PI-based docs (to show my Phils residence status).

When you get your old and new passports back don`t forget that the old one contains your 13a visa!
You can get it transferred to the new one in intramoros if you wish or just carry both when leaving the country.
I also take digital photos of my passport, visa and acrI card..Just in case.
