Wife on 2nd FLR is she eligible to vote in the UK Elections?
Hi,
I have always assumed that my Wife was not eligible to vote in the UK elections however I have just received a letter form the local council which states "Who is eligible to vote" You can vote in the UK if you are resident (Usually Live) in the UK aged 18 or over or you must be either British, Irish or EU Citizen or a Commonwealth Citizen who has leave to enter or Leave to remain in the UK or who does not require such leave.
When does she become a resident is that only when she has her ILR??
I'm confused, all replies greatly appreciated.

In order to vote you must be registered to vote.
To register to vote you must be an eligible British, Irish, EU or qualifying Commonwealth citizen.
