More Smaller Houses To Be Built To Help First-Time Buyers

    https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news...t-time-buyers/ ...

Hmm ... 's all very well, in theory! Realistically, though, with prices starting at an average of £135,000 for a one-bedroom apartment in Perth & Kinross - as an example - what chance is there? for youngsters, many of whom are either unemployed, or simply do not earn enough to put a decent roof over their heads.

... much BETTER surely, if local authorities generally were to revert to their former practice of investing in providing quality, reasonably~priced house builds for rental once more.

    Arthur... totally agree mate.

1,000s of Estate Agents and building companies are also responsible for this 'house price inflation' over the past 40 years.

    Greed greed greed.

Perhaps some of those retired factory workers , etc, now sunning themselves in their Spanish Villa, financed by their house sales profits, could throw a bit into the bowl when it's passed around by their children and grandchildren, etc.
The 'lucky' generation are now seeing the aftermath of THEIR property boom... myself included.

Expensive for apartments Arthur, the wife's new build house that we moved into two years ago cost £116,000, a three bed semi with decent sized garden and plenty of room at the side to extend at a later date if required. My friend who lives in London said it would fetch £500,000 in her area, I don't think that's bad really.
