First, about my wife's desire to get part time work
Hello,
I hope all is well and good with you all?
My wife has recently expressed an desire to seek some part time work outside our home
That's fine by myself, but I do have a slight worry in regards to this, because on how it might effect my own pensions/credits, housing and other some other benefits?
Without contacting the DWP I need to know the in's and out's of this before I reveal who I actually am to them first.
Because I have heard so many horror stories from friends in regards to this subject
Just to be sure that I do have a good hand of cards before I laid them on the table?
Any of you good people know any other way where and I or might get this free advice from before. if ever I contact the DWP?
Thanks in advance

I'm in Scotland so rules might be different,... my retired friend brought his wife and their child over from the Phils about 2 years ago (he went the S/S route via Germany).
His pension was very small at the time as he had been self-employed and hadn't paid enough stamps to receive full pension. Once they were here and settled for about 4 months she went to work full time. In Scotland, if you have a child and you work so many hours you are entitled for tax credits and working tax credits.. They seemed to do well for themselves, he never said anything to me about any restrictions to his pension, in fact he found it quite daunting how much the government actually threw at them because they had a baby together....
I'm sure you can enter proposed details into google and it will calculate how much she can earn without giving your details....

(My brother has been working as an adviser for them, since his retirement from the Foreign Office).

I tried them weeks ago. They only allow 6 people in at a time down my way and each time we went there it was full of other people waiting outside to seek help and advice
Dead end there and no, you cannot make appointments and they are only open one day a week, and that's in the evenings "Blame it on the cuts perhaps?"

Do try the government websites and (and freephone help lines).
I used to work for one of the Benefit Offices.
I'm sure nobody will be sent out to track you down for merely asking questions relating to a hypothetical situation.
