    First, this:

"Hate Crime has doubled in the wake of Monday night's attack!"

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...ester-40064424

's according to the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester.

Yet, next thing ... the government has reduced the terror threat level from critical to severe!

    www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40069959

Who - and what - is the public expected to believe?

Hate crime against who I wonder? Knowing maybe you are hated is different to knowing that that person would like to blow you and your family up.
The government should clamp down on all fears that all the public has, not afraid of who or what persons this may affect.
Racist is a mixed word but seems that it's only used against the rest of the people. Yet what is the word when I am called every name under the sun and threatened with death? PIG, I think some may say.

I suppose the people of Manchester are outraged with last week's tragedy and understandably emotions are running high, then add your usual array of boneheads looking for anyone to blame and you have the rise in hate crime. I'm sure it'll return to normal in the next week or so.
Must confess I was a little surprised the threat level was dropped so quickly. I can only think that they must be confident that they've rounded up most if not all of the "Network" they were referring to midweek. We have a lot happening in London this weekend so I would have been tempted to keep everyone on their toes until next week. I'm working later on and expect it to be busier than normal underground, and we're not exactly difficult targets. I hope they're right.

I just hate the fact that 2.5 % of the population can screw up the lives of the other 97.5% so much ... and we're still expected to handle them with kid gloves.
