Sir Arnold Clark
Although he wasn't ... ... strictly speaking, a sportsman, I had thought it appropriate that his passing be mentioned in this Section.
Clark ... a Glaswegian by birth (like me) left school with NO formal qualifications, served his time as a motor mechanic ... opening his first car showroom in 1954, at the age of 27, and went on to create one of the UK's LARGEST motor dealerships in Scotland, with a total of 97 outlets - including several in the North of England - over the ensuing decades becoming a self~made billionaire.
Knighted in 2004, for services to the Motor Industry, he sadly died on Monday, aged 89.
RIP, 'Arnie' ... (as he was best known to ALL in the motor trade!)

Surprised really, that nobody has "reacted" to the above news concerning 'the Death of a Salesman', albeit not one of your everyday car salesmen, ... but, arguably, the doyen of car specialists in 's motor trade.

Just looked him up on Wikipedia Arthur, sorry to say never heard the name before your thread, but a very successful man indeed who has led a very full life in both business and social activities, also he was fortunate to die peacefully surrounded by family. A fine example to others to be able to show that by working hard one can achieve the good things in life, nothing is free. RIP Sir.
