WHY ... ? Because of their confidence in Duterte ... as being the ONLY person capable of putting the Philippines back onto a firm footing.
's WHY!

I thought this war on drugs was meant to be over within 6 months according to Duterte
-
13th October 2016 #276
I don't think anyone seriously believed the 6 months claim. However I'm sure the heavy handed approach the problem is having an impact. Your own article highlights that 84% of people are satisfied with the drive against drugs which is a clear indication that he has the support of the people. People seem to be ignoring the fact that 3/4 million drug dependents have surrendered to the government and they will now be offered help to rehabilitate. The government is proposing to spend 3 billion pesos on Rehab centres to deal with these people.
On my recent trip there I think I only came across one vociferous voice against him and everyone else was happy with the early months of his reign.
Everyone outside the country seems to be focusing on the war against drugs and seem to be ignoring the good work that is already going on to improve things. In a Q3 survey 83% of those surveyed placed much trust in Duterte .
He has very little to worry about IMO

You won't see any in this thread.
The thread starter and major contributor is just doing random copy and paste without any insight, understanding or alternative commentary outside of media reporting.
Nothing of any value really.
That's not to say I believe DU30 is correct in a few policies or to say he is creating a sound foreign policy.
But I do think the political scene on the ground deserves a more balanced commentary.
At least in would attract discussion and debate.
Sadly it seems the thread starter and major contributor doesn't have the same view. His is a very selective and narrow focus on negative issues without any acceptance/invitation for sensible discussion on whether the DU30 vision and program is a positive or negative policy for the Philippines.
No interest in a discussion on what are the long-term effects of his programs or whether or not the president have authority to act in seemingly unilateral, unchecked manner.
Just an opinion of course.
The US and UN are highly critical and vocal but there's no balanced comparative reporting on say the US drone program for example which has followed a summary execution policy of indiscriminate murder.
The question being does the US murder of humans gain enough to balance out the civilian casualties?
No I'm not starting an off-topic discussion just expanding my thoughts on unbalanced views of the US
How about the UN ?
How many cases/charges are made against the UN Peacekeeping forces that are only investigated behind closed doors.
Many senior people fired out without charges.

http://www.voanews.com/a/sexual-abus...e/3220263.html
Whether or not I personally agree with the undisciplined words of Mr DU30 or not is not a question.....but is there any hint of hypocrisy anywhere?
Another personal opinion, but constant cut and paste posting of media reporting is really an escape from responsibility. Simply following the media is supporting their tactic of solely attributing information to third persons other press, or other sources.
Apologies to all. The rant is over.
I'll not contribute further to this thread, or any other, where open and balanced discussion is denigrated

About time they arrested Duterte and his chief henchman Bato
Lets see these 2 being made to answer for their crimes against humanity in The Hague
http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/10/13/1...g-war-killings
83% of brainwashed people means nothing as for years these people have been manipulated and hoodwinked into voting for dictators
On my last visit there i found many people who detested Duterte and his killing spree but they were too afraid to voice there opinion in public as there is a lynch mob mentality there amongst many of Duterte's supporters
He may have some support at home from the faithful but don't expect the international community to keep on turning a blind eye to the atrocities he is committing against his own people
Whether you idolize Duterte or not there is real momentum growing against Duterte and is barbaric administration internationally

Oh dear that's Typical of the mods on here
If someone posts anything on this site that you don't agree with you all collectively jump on their posts
and call them a troll
Look at therpe's post 279 he cant move the discussion forward so he has to resort to personal attacks
I suggest you all stop deluding your selfs that Duterte is some kind of messiah who is going to make everything in the Philippines fine and dandy and stop turning a blind eye to the people being murdered there on a daily basis
Some of you are ex pats living in the Philippines so i can only presume the fact that you are all too scared to actually state the truth on these killings in case one of Bato's nice undercover policeman comes after you

So what are your motives for staying here and posting negative reports all the time? You clearly have no love of the Philippines or respect for the people. I have never heard you say anything nice about the people, the place or culture.
Why don't you post about how lucky you are not to face the many typhoons that our families have the stress to have to deal with, or floods or earthquakes. You feel nothing but still have to troll as much negativity as you can about the president.
i will let you reply one more time and then I will close this thread as it it just a mouthpiece for your one sided hatred of the Philippines.
Any further negative posts, about the team, individuals or subject matter will result in leaving the forum. If you want your dreams to come true ...... first you have to wake up

The world can be a sad place, even where we live too, but there is no need to report it, you just try and find the happy times and places to make you and your family happy, try doing that and see the results.
Do you still have any contact in the Philippines at all LM
