    Life is Good......

Been a very busy time for me recently
    Almost 2 weeks traveling around.
Early mornings and late nights have taken their toll and I'm content to just relax at home before another round next week when we'll spend time with family for Philippines Holy Week.

I'm really looking forward to some good fishing trips with likeminded family members next week.

We visited Nabunturan for the Compostela Valley Bulawan Festival.
Highlight for us was the evening concert and closing fireworks display.
That concert was really enjoyable despite being aimed at the younger folks.

The line up consisted of a local, but well known Davao band called Daybreak followed by an impeccable performance from Callalily with Kean Cipriano.

Did the usual 'photo call' with the ComVal Governor.

On the 12th it was my wife's special event the Grand Alumni Homecoming 2016
The first she attended in almost 30 years.
Interesting day for me and a highly charged emotional one for my wife.
We began our travel at 4am in readiness for the 8am Mass and the day continued with events and programs and of course much reminiscing with old school friends.

The evening contained stage performances from stand up comedians as well as another good performace from the Daybreak band. This time focusing on music from the 60's, 70's and 80's rather than the pure rock of the Nabunturan concert.

My wife enjoyed herself so much. We spent a few days enjoying good times with even long lost friends and she is now determined to maintain her attendance for the future.

Those bonds of friendship originally forged at school during informative years are the best and strongest IMO
    I hope we can continue.

We're planning to leave Davao City and Mindanao pretty soon and to begin a new chapter of our life in Luzon.
But travel times from Manila to Davao is pretty short and it's always so easy to make the hometown jouney from the airport by taxi.

    Life is good

Well Steve, we still own 2 properties in Luzon.
One of which is our house in Marikina City which, despite our best efforts, remains unsold and empty.
What with the unpredictable RoE, the EU referendum, the Philippines election, and the unsettled political future here in Mindanao we've decided not to continue with rented accommodation here and to relocate to a rent free house in Marikina.
We'll enjoy renovating and re-equipping and traveling around Luzon for a while.

I've made some good friends here in Mindanao on all sides of the political fence and all have advised.

Looks like we'll be bumping into each other in Marikina. I look forward to that.

Looks like lots of future plans for many of us, and it may look like a gathering on friends may be on the books too, now that would be nice

It would be a pleasure for us to meet up with you and Emms again.
Hopefully that will come sooner rather than later.

BTW Steve did you mention previously in your posts that there is a Wilcon store in the area?

How wonderful that would be Graham

Although having said that I've no idea how long we'll be staying in the area.
If I had my way I'd be living somewhere in Batanes

That was a great place to go and get some good ideas on what you may be looking for, then we just jumped into the the motorbike and sidecar and went to the local shops where it could have been a lot cheaper and even getting better deals for other things too,
Always best to send Ems and her dad in first then me to follow later with the cash

A beautiful place Peter, and I remember your account of your previous visit there.

I wonder how this will affect the way of life there though ?

I've a feeling the locals will view it differently from me in that their cost of living may reduce significantly.
You may know that almost all their goods/foods etc has to be shipped/flown in at quite some cost.
    Also it may boost tourism

But for me it would mean a big change in a lifestyle that hasn't changed in 100's of years. Bit selfish on my part really part, but it's one of only a few such places left in the world.
