    Fiance Visa and NHS Surcharge

    Hi Everyone,

I have used an immigration solicitor to help me with my Fiances visa, I checked the on-line application and paid for it on-line. I then called the solicitor and she asked me if I had paid the NHS Surcharge, to which I replied no, as I was not asked to pay it. She said it should ask as part of the application. I assured her it didn't.

Now this would not be the 1st time that the solicitor has got something wrong, I had to tell her that my Fiance needed an English Test and TB clearance which she didn't advise me on .......

So could anyone help me in knowing whether the NHS Surcharge applies to the Fiance visa? It isa settlement visa so I am not sure as the visa itself only lasts for 6 months and then you extend it after you are married.

I am worried because if it is required it is an automatic rejection of the visa and I don't want to lose the money for the Visa application.

    thanks in advance,

    SDM.

Can't imagine why use a solicitor.
Better an experienced OISC immigration advisor. IMHO

There's no ‘Immigration Health Surcharge’ (IHS) for any visa with an expiry date of 6 months or less

    It's clearly stated.

Thank you very much for your reply, so this gets me thinking is there anyway I can cover her for the 6 months in case she needs a costly operation in Hospital?

Its very unlikely to happen but you never know.
