Dreadful internet service
Reminiscent of those early dial-up days

Here's one i just did and it's at the best time in the day for speeds:-
With that I can just about watch YT or BBC iPlayer (at a push)
Trouble is I really don't have the time to watch BBC at this time of day.
I'm paying P1600 for 3Mbs

I always reckon that with around 1Mbs I'm OK for YT and BBC
One of the issues right now is the number of drop-outs and the time I get dropped.
It's a worry when I'm making online banking transactions if there's a power outage of internet drop out.

A couple of weeks ago we were in the shopping mall when the power went out. Most things came back quickly except the air-con and the escalators and the ATM's
I was close to a lady who was making a transaction on the ATM.
She was just about to retrieve her card and wait for the money to come out when "bang" it just stopped. No card. No Money.
Her friend managed to find some security people but I wasn't able to hang around to see the outcome.
To be honest I hadn't considered this scenario before.
Don't know what the outcome would be but it does worry me.

Did you send me your 3mb
Actually if i'm honest we normally get around 1mb and have done since we applied a couple of months ago.

I think we have the same package. Globe T@ttoo@Home with free phone to call other Globe lines.
Have you had any extra charges on the phone? Took me around a month to work out how to lock the thing and i managed to run up an extra bill of around 600 pesos without calling anyone

The strange thing is though that I can watch Youtube without any buffer..
I was talking to a guy here that has just connected to a fiber optic system.. He`s testing it at the moment.. He says that speed test shows 1mb only and yet he can stream live TV and so far the connection is very stable.. He needs it because he makes his money teaching Korean students English..
So to be honest Im not really sure about how to interpret my speed test results.

Sky are just now installing in our village.
We considered it when we first moved here but at that time it wasn't available.
Yes, it's another one to consider. I noticed on the plus side that they give a minimum service speed of 2.5Mbs if you contract to a 5Mbs package. They include a Hi-Def TV package too. Must take a look at the channels as I do enjoy quite a few when I have time.
Thanks for the reminder
