Flying to America
The last time i flew to the USA we had to fill in some new forms on line because of the new terrorist threats, it was all straight forward , your name and passport number and a few more things too,
So today i thought i may look into this and yes there is forms to fill in but this time there is a cost too, $14, it breaks down to $10 for each applicant and $4 for the processing ,
Am i looking at the right site or is this the fee you pay no matter what

It'll be cold in Vegas then, especially in the evening when it may dip below freezing. Depends when in January though, as the nearer to the end, the quicker it warms up in the day. Being from the UK, we think afternoon January temperatures are a heatwave.
I went to Phoenix once in January. The car was skidding on ice in the morning, while in the afternoon I was sunbathing! Weird.Keith Driscoll - Administrator

I found Florida very boring, apart from Cape Canaveral. The state is boringly flat.

LA is the best place in January for Disney World, Hollywood and good weather. Plenty of good views and things to do.

In January LA will be in the 60s in the daytime, so pleasant. There should still be plenty of sunshine.
Vegas is in the high desert and can get chilly at night, but again warm enough by day.
Florida is at it's least humid in Jan/Feb, probably the best time to visit there.
Hawaii is 80 degrees all year round, fly to San Francisco and sightsee for a few days (much nicer than LA), then on to one of the Hawaiian islands
Another option is San Diego, a very relaxing place. Stay somewhere along Mission Beach/La Jolla. You don't have to spend a lot there. Direct flights from LHR too.

By the way, an ESTA lasts 2 years so once you've paid $14 thats it for 2 years. It is an online version of the green form you used to have to complete on the plane and hand over with the white customs form. The idea is to try to stop bad guys from getting on the plane in the first place.
