Harold Wilson. The only one who had the backbone to say no to the yanks.

, guys ... but it's a fact ... ! Andy ... Harold Wilson's last Premiership ended with his resignation in 1976. Thereafter, Labour's former Home Secretary, Jim Callaghan took over the reins until his defeat by Maggie at the General Election of 1979.

Here's another interesting snippet of information about Wilson - for those of you old enough to recollect - he was pally with The Beatles ... who, apparently called him 'arold, their accents in doing so, being not entirely dissimilar to those of Wilfred Brambell and Harry H. Corbett in the '60s TV sitcom, 'Steptoe & Son'.

Tried to find it but alas I can't,The scenario was Wilson was sat with Eric and they were both about to fill up their pipes to have a smoke,Wilson said to Eric, "would you like a fill of my tobacco?"
Eric then said "yes" and put his small pipe down only to produce the biggest pipe you have ever seen and commenced to stuff it with all Wilson's tobacco
Better for watching that me explaining tho it was a classic

Yep...looks like the Tories were full of it on the human rights issue.
Thought it was too good to be true.

Hmm think you have got to let it pan out a bit Graham. We can't solve all the problems overnight. Labour of course oppose any changes and want it to remain the same. At least the Tories recognise what the people want - whereas Labour tell us what we want. Even just for that reason alone the election went the right way.

Yes, I know what you're saying Les. Still want to give them a kick up the Rs though.

Wonderwoman??? yer 'avin' a larf! Interesting reading the nominations for Cameron (all prior to the Brexit vote), wonder what they would write now! ;-)
My answer has to be none in my living memory. Best Prime Minister who never was has to be the late John Smith, wonderful orator and a thoroughly decent principled man.

Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher and I must say that so far Theresa May seems very competent
