We live in Spain. My wife will be renewing her passport in Spain later this year.

In the requirements it says (this is from the UK web page but ot is the same elsewhere) that the following is required :-

If married in the Philippines, the original and a photocopy of the marriage certificate (authenticated by the National Statistics Office). A copy of husband’s valid passport or birth certificate.

As my wife’s passport is already in her married name, I wrote to the Philippines Consulate in Madrid to ask if she still requires the above, as stated clearly on the web site she does. I could not see the logic of the requirement, which of course is not an easy document to obtain, especially when not living in Phil..

This is the reply I received.

Dear Mr xxxxx

If your wife has already amended her passport to reflect her married name, there is no need to present the marriage certificate when applying for passport renewal.
