UK Spouse Visa Application
UK Spouse visa application
Hello All
Should this be in another thread?
Hopefully soon we will make an application
How many forms do we need to fill and complete?
Does anyone here know where these visa forms are?
Regards

Lloydegbrick,
I moved your posting to the Visa section.
It helps to keep important information in one place making searches by yourself and others to be easier.
You've already been through a journey and now you've another journey ahead?
The application, the payment and the VFS application center appointment for presentation of the submission all need to be made online.
Your starting point is the UKBA webpage linked here at :-
Apply to join family living permanently in the UK
Please do take time to read and understand all the webpage links.
Everything you need is there including access to downloadable copies of the application forms for your review.
Both of the downloadable forms you can use as reference need plus the UKVA guidance are here at :-
Application for UK visa for family settlement: form VAF4A
If you have any questions or need clarification please don't be shy to post here in your thread. So many good folks here will freely and honestly share their experience.

I was wondering where my post on the visa had got to. it took me a bit of time to find it..
How are you?
Touch wood all goes well, it is nerve wracking with all this form filling.
Someone told me that my wife will need to complete two forms, one that you can print out and another one that has to be completed only online, is this correct?
Thanks again

Yes, that's correct.
The main Personal details application form is completed and submitted online, together with online payment.
The Appendix 2 Financial Requirement needs to be downloaded, completed and submitted together with your documentary evidence bundle at the VFS Application Centre during the pre-booked appointment slot.

I just checked that page again.
It appears the visa fee has gone up and the NHS surcharge is £600 not £500 for Sheina.

What is this all about and how does this apply to my wife and I, that is, if it does?

All the links you need are in my post #2 above in the first link.
See section 6 Apply and follow the links.
You'll be directed to the Visa4UK website.
Here's the link to that website
You'll need to register and login before you can use it.
I'd suggest you take some time to familiarise yourself with the system and read the FAQ's
Hope that helps

Hello Terpe,
Looking around and reading some more.
I've just notice that if one is on DLA higher rate, one would be exempt from certain minimum income and rules?

This is a new requirement now and will apply to you wife.
Please do take some time to review both these forum threads:-

I've taken the liberty to merge your threads as It's getting confusing having the two threads running.
Concerning your question on Financial Requirement exemptions you should review the UKVI publication
Immigration Directorate Instruction for Family Migration, Appendix FM: Section 1.7. Financial Requirements.
Look under section 3.6 for possible exemptions
I'd kindly suggest you do some searches here to develop your application strategy and understand all the mandatory document requirements before making an application.

The NHS surcharge is also required to be paid again as well as the fee for FLR when that comes around.

Hi Cheekee
Well it will soon be that only the very rich can marry a bride from another country at the rate things are going these days
It all seems so unfair too
All in all without reading it fully as I had begun to understand the rules from July 2012..
What are the main major changes that one would ned to be mosr aware of now?

Hello Terpe
Is my wife's IELTS - International English Language Testing System still valid ?
She passed this last October, does it mean she has to re-sit it again?
Regards
-
9th April 2015 #20
Yes, that's still valid. IELTS General & Academic Training (with speaking, listening, reading & writing categories) are all still valid and can be used in UK visa applications. They just added another type of test, which is the IELTS Life Skills (with speaking and listening categories only), so that for spouses/partners will only have to take the 2 categories that UKVI requires.

Let me see if I've got this right?
So this means my wife has to have those 2 extra in order that she has them added to her other exams, and this means booking a course just to take these two extra to add on to her already full English certificate?
Regards
-

No. Whatever IELTS test she had taken in October (I'm guessing it's the General Training), it's all fine. She doesn't need to take another exam. She only need to take one type of IELTS, it's either General Training or Academic Training or the Life Skills. Btw, I'm not Terpe.

Sorry about the mix up with your name
What you say above that she does not need to take another test but my wife still needs to have those extras as you mention onto her visa application?
Surely they don't just hand them out to anyone who ask for it? How does she go about getting a hold of these extra certificates?
Thanks

Llloyd, You said your wife has took and passed the IELTS in October, right? I'm assuming that it's the General Training type was the one she took. Now, that IELTS General Training, it has speaking, listening, reading and writing categories. What matters in the spouse visa application are the speaking and listening results only. If she has passed those with a grade of at least 4.0, then she doesn't need to retake the test. And, she doesn't have to take every type of tests that IELTS are providing. Whatever your wife has took in October, as long as the speaking and listening grades is at least 4.0 then that's fine. PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE YOURSELF.
Ask your wife what IELTS test she took in October. Verify from her what are her test results score in Speaking and Listening. If it's 4.0 and above then she can use that in her spouse visa application. As simple as that.-=rayna.keith=-

Lloyd., what part of the Philippines your wife from? We will be applying for a spouse visa in 2 weeks time., I'm just waiting for my husband to arrived as he will bring his documents with him. In time for our blessing aswell. I reckon we already gathered all the necessary documents and it's already up to the ECo now.. If you want I could talk to your wife and explain to her the new rules. If your wife has taken her English test last October and she passed, she no longer need to sit in on another test. Her previous English test is still valid.

Hello raynaputi
I ask my wife for her results
speaking-6.0
writing is 5.5
reading -4.5
listening-5.0
overall bond score-5.5
Is there anything missing from the test that we should need to know about?
Thank you
