Some years ago a mate of mine was at Portsmouth Poly (before they dumbed it down and called it a University) I recall him telling me that the USS Nimitz had dropped anchor in the Solent and the whole city was full of slappers from London and stank of Brut
Apparently it was accompanied by a couple of frigates and an assault ship carrying a thousand or so marines - I think they managed to get into the Naval Base but the Nimitz had to stay outside
