I've been sending money through WU for more than a year now, but I've always had it so that my girlfriend collects the money in Peso's..
Would we get more from my send if I selected Dollars instead? I asumed that the exchange went like this...
Pound to Peso
but maybe it's actually...
Pound to Dollar, Dollar to Peso.

i think they just transfer it from Sterling to pesos. You would not save money any other way through western union.
Do you realise there is cheaper ways than Western Union. The is a way of doing it through a bank i think in London which i am doing via Belfast that is so much cheaper. I can send up to £1,000 and only be charged £4 for doing it. You will need you girlfriend/wife to have a bank account in the Philippines.
If i can be of any more help then let me know.

She's been using them for four years now, and when we applied for the visa for the mum in law they even wrote her a nice legal type letter stating that we had sent money through them for years, so she could stick it in with the application papers.
