I am so glad I came to stay in Guernsey where they are still under the old rules yet. No £18,600 and ILR after 2 years. I got this email today just to confirm.
Dear Gerwevs,
You can apply for ILR after 2 years as the spouse of a British Citizen if you have passed the Life in the UK and Islands Test. If you have not passed this test then you would need to apply for FLTR for another 2 years.
Kind regards,

11th February 2015 #3But the rule does not apply to citizens of other EU countries who have settled in the UK.
Mr Brokenshire said he would make an effort to close the loophole.

I am so glad I don't have to go through all this. But if I had to, I think I would just not bother and move myself over there.

There are still loads of people getting into the UK due to our depleted Border controls. The ones on here who try to do it the legal way get punished financially.

... guys, I wouldn't ever consider moving to the Philippines at my advanced age (or in my state of health) ... somehow or other, I'd got hold of the impression when you mentioned "moving over there" you'd been responding to *Robbie's post in its context and jokingly meant move from the mainland to the Channel Islands (where the 'old rules' still [apparently] apply) like *he'd done, Steve.
Seems Fred, in replying to my post, did so based on his awareness of your plans to migrate to the Phils in the long term.
