    Family Visit Visa

    Hi

We are applying for a family visit visa for my husband's family to Visit the UK. My husband has British Citizenship now. I was looking at the uk.gov website about the documents we have to provide, i.e, sponsor letter, bank statements, proof of citizenship etc. And just below it, it states these should be the original and photocopy.

Is this the case for our passport etc? We have to send this to Manila for them to submit?

    Thanks
    Jemma

No Jemma, you should not send original passports. Period.

    Photocopies will be fine.

The only original documents you need submit are bank statements.

Here's an extract from UKVI supporting documents guide:-

    ..
If you are visiting a family member you may wish to include a letter of invitation from them as well as their financial documents, as outlined in the finances and employment section above.
You must also supply evidence of their immigration status in the UK demonstrating that they are permanently settled or have asylum/humanitarian status in the UK this could be copies of:
 bio-data pages from their passports
 valid visa or immigration stamp from their passport
 Home Office letter or Residence Permit confirming permission to stay in the UK...
Note also that you'll need to supply details of accommodation in the supporting letter.

Would a mortgage statement be ok for proof of accommodation?? Would you suggest anything else?

    Thanks

    Hi Terpe

You mentioned in your reply to Jem:

    'Photocopies will be fine.

Unfortunately all our bank accounts are now paperless so I cannot submit original bank statements. Are copies from the online banking acceptable? If not, how do we get around this problem, we are just trying to save the planet.

    Thanks

I have to admit it can be problematic.
The bank should be able to stamp each page with their own official stamp. Sort of certification
Recently some folks have reported that their banks no longer want to play ball and have gotten difficult.
First step talk with your branch.

Here's what UKVI state about bank statements in the Financial Requirement para 3.3.4

Bank statements must be on official bank stationery. Alternatively electronic bank statements can also be accepted for all bank accounts (the account itself does not have to be exclusively online) as long as they are either accompanied by a letter from the bank on its headed stationery confirming that the documents are authentic or which bear the official stamp of the issuing bank on every page.

    Hope that helps a little

Hi Terpe, speaking of authentication, instead of submitting a bank statement, will that be ok to submit the payslip instead of bank statement? And its also online paperwork, does it need to be aunthenticated like the bank statement?
Thank you so much. Hope u can give me an answer...regards x

For sponsors of visit visa there's really no mandatory requirement.
If submitting bank statements the Caseworkers need to see authentication.
Payslips by themselves really don't convince UKVI of ability to support visitors financially. They need to see corresponding matched entries on bank statements so yes, copies of online payslips are fine provided they are supported by the corresponding bank statements
The major concern of UKVI is to establish the financials supporting a proposed UK visit.

As always LV it's my pleasure. The information is there the biggest problem is knowing where to find it and interpreting the civil service speak

Don't ever believe that UKVI use compassion or 'benefit-of-the-doubt' in their decision making.
Full compliance is the only way.
