    What are the Favorite Foods of the Philippines?

    Filipinos are very fond of having meals with rice. They are rice lovers and not to mention they are also FOOD lovers. If you plan to visit the Philippines, you should add these lists of foods that you should try to make the most of your Philippines experience. Here is the list of Philippine foods that Filipinos really love:

    KALDERETA – This dish is very famous in the Philippines, most especially in Luzon. Its most common ingredients are beef, sometimes pork and sometimes with the meat of a goat with tomato sauce and added a little bit of liver spread to it.

    SISIG – This food is always served sizzling. Filipinos refer to it as Sizzling Sisig. This is a dish made out of the pig’s head and liver. It is usually seasoned with chilli peppers and calamansi.

    CRISPY PATA - A dish made out of deep fried pig trotter served with a sauce made of soy and vinegar. This Filipino dish is always served at parties or even for an everyday meal with special occasions.

    LUMPIA – These are delicacies originated from China yet loved by Filipinos. This is somewhat similar to spring rolls which are very popular in Indonesia. Filipinos have different versions of Lumpia that suits the persons that eats it.

    PANCIT PALABOK – This type of food has a Chinese origin. Pancit palabok is made from rice flour noodles and with a lot of vegetable ingredients for its flavor and more seasoning. It is sometimes added to meat and chicharon. Filipinos really love this dish.

    MORCON – this is a Filipino meat roll that is stuffed with hot dogs or sometimes sausages and also with vegetables, cheese and egg. This dish is usually served during special occasions like Christmas Eve.

    KARE-KARE – This dish is a Philippine stew. Kare-kare is made up of peanut sauce combined with various vegetables, beef, and sometimes tripe. Sometimes goat meat or even chicken meat is used. This food is loved by Filipinos, and served in households when the family is eating together.

    SINIGANG – this is a Filipino soup having a unique sour flavor. Its main ingredient is tamarind which makes it sour. The sourer it tastes, the more delicious it is for the Filipinos. The meat ingredient varies from pork, beef and the like.

    LECHON – The very famous dish during fiestas and family celebrations. Lechon is a pork dish which originated in Spain.

    ADOBO – came from the Spanish word which means to marinate. This kind of food is marinated with soy sauce and seasoning for the great taste. Adobo is considered to be the national dish of the Philippines. It is the most common dish that Filipinos cook for their meals.

    Used to have Pig Trotter for tea sometimes as a child and it was nice with a piece of cheese, fresh tomato and vinegar!

    When we went on holiday to Rome last year my wife went for 3 full days without rice

    Mind you, at the end she was like a smoker who hadn't had a smoke ........
    We then went in search of a Japanese restaurant

    I've learnt to ensure she has regular rice intake.......makes for a happy life

    I love paksiw na galonggong (scad)went to Lutong Pinoy Restaurant in Earls Court yesterday, had their buffet for £8.50. I liked it there, compared to Josephine Restaurant.
