D-Day: Hove veteran disappears for Normandy trip
A World War Two veteran who disappeared from his nursing home to attend the D-Day commemorations in France is on his way back to the UK.

What a great story.....talk about fighting spirit and determination.
Looks like he made a few friends on the ferry too.
My dad would have given his eye teeth to have made that trip I know....sadly with his health and mobility at 90 it would have been impossible.
Not many WW2 veterans left now.
I found some of the stories and commentaries very moving.

By the way, he was not actually banned from attending by the care home......that's just media hype
