    Hiya Mick,

At the time my wife applied for her spouse visa I had mine certified by a solicitor which she obliged and just charged me a pound for photo copying it......nice girl...

My personal advice is to cut all possible risks as its a massive outlay for the visa application for the sake of a few quid just my personal opinion...

    Good Luck...

Hi Mick. I suggest you visit your post office. In Wallingford, Oxfordshire they were charging £8 in 2013, clueless about the current fee. Bring colored and clear copy with the original passport.
    Don't just try, DO IT!

    Hi Mick

A normal photocopy of you passport bio page will be fine.
UKVI can undertake verification checks on your passport anyway if they need.

If you'd feel more comfortable to send a certified photocopy then take a look at the government website called Certifying a document as it does give some examples of who can certify and how they must do it.
You shouldn't need to pay anyone unless you're really struggling to find someone.

In principle you can use the same sort of people that are able to countersign passport applications.
Here's some possibilities for you to think on:-

    - Accountant
    - Airline pilot
    - Articled clerk of a limited company
    - Assurance agent of recognised company
    - Bank/Building Society official
    - Barrister
    - Chairman/Director of limited company
    - Chiropodist
    - Commissioner of Oaths
    - Councillor (local or county)
    - Civil servant (permanent)
    - Dentist
    - Director/Manager of a VAT-registered charity
    - Director/Manager/HR Officer of a VAT-registered company
    - Engineer (with professional qualifications)
    - Financial services intermediary (eg a stockbroker or insurance broker)
    - Fire Service official
    - Funeral director
    - Insurance agent (full time) of a recognised company
    - Journalist
    - Justice of the Peace
    - Legal secretary (fellow or associate member of the Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs)
    - Licensee of public house
    - Local government officer
    - Member, associate or fellow of a professional body
    - Member of Parliament
    - Merchant Navy officer
    - Minister of a recognised religion (including Christian Science)
    - Nurse (RGN and RMN)
    - Officer of the armed services (active or retired)
    - Optician
    - Paralegal (certified paralegal, qualified paralegal or associate member of the Institute of Paralegals)
    - Person with honours (an OBE or MBE, for example)
    - Pharmacist
    - Photographer (professional)
    - Police officer
    - Post Office official
    - President/Secretary of a recognised organisation
    - Salvation Army officer
    - social worker
