The Philippines' tough stance can only end in embarrassment
fighting talk
The Philippines tough stance was not taken on a whim: their confidence to challenge China on the South China Sea issue stems from the belief that they have the protection and support of the US.China takes an unwavering stand on protecting its territory and sovereignty, and has no fear of provocation from any country. On the incident of the detained Chinese fishing boat, the Chinese coast guard arrived promptly on the scene, and China resolved the issue through diplomatic channels, requiring the Philippine side to release the crew and the boat and give a reasonable explanation. As a responsible country, China has the confidence and willpower to face interference from outside forces. The Philippines would be well advised to think carefully before acting.

Most ordinary Filipino`s never wanted the Yanks to leave in the first place..
I hope you dont think the Yanks want to appear to defend Filipinos because the Americans love the Philippines..
They will attempt to defend the R.P because they need to defend the balance of power in Asia..
The US are very afraid of China..And so they should be.

I think the US might spread itself a little thinly soon, what with the whole Russia issue plus supporting all the nations that China is currently bullying plus the troops they still haven't pulled out of Afghanistan. Can't be easy being the world's police, but they made that bed themselves.
