Joe, the top 1% of earners pay about 30% of all tax received.

Let's take Rooney for example. If he really does earn £300,000 a week great, his income tax bill will be huge.

That guy will pay more income tax than all of us put together on here

You have to get a balance. If you tax people too high they might just say stuff it and move away - then they would contribute nothing - and everyone's taxes would increase.

If I could hypnotise you and erase your memory - then show you the state we were left in and how we are now - and not tell you which party was which, you would hammer Labour.

It's like a blinded loyalty to something we all know was a financial disaster, yet you blame the ones trying to put it right.

A earns £10000/yr and therefore pays no tax
B earns £11000/yr and pays 20% of £1000 (£200)

Both get 10% tax cut

A gets 10% of nothing
B gets 10% of £200 so is therefore £20 better off

A complains that B is £20 a year better off

B earns 100K a year and pays £29884 a year


A saves about £640/yr B saves nearer £3000

All A can see is that B is now over £2300/yr better off

Can't really afford it, so next week I will work extra hours on a night (normally work days) to earn my fun money.

I don't whinge about people on more money than me.

If you can't do that, try to get a better paid job.

BTW can any of our financial experts explain to me that despite austerity and bedroom tax, and everything else supposedly heading down why Osborne has borrowed more in 4 years than the last Government did in 13?

At what point can we start blaming this shower of shiite for the mess? I mean they sold off the Post Office and sold back a lot of shares in the banks and various other sell offs. We've had the Olympics and all the money that was going to generate, and yet they've still borrowed more than the last shower.

Working extra hours is the best bet if you want more money, no need to worry about how much tax you pay, because everyone's in the same boat at the end of the day!

Some had risen to the top of their professions, one of my customers is a retired top director at John Menzies.

Another is an owner of a national frozen food company - loaded £200,000 car in drive - he can't be arsed with it

I met a great bloke earlier this year came over here from S Africa in 1975 in his 20's with nothing - self made man now British worth £60 million, lives in a manor house, yacht, helicopter, cars etc and employs loads of people. As you say Les good luck to him.
