What would you pay and want

Well what would you pay and what would you want for that amount too,
I have been looking for accommodation around Rome and Venice and you dont get much for your money too,
£100 a night in some places and you dont even get your own loo, now i must have my own loo and shower, but the price goes up if you want those in your room, what do you think

Italy is one of the few euro destinations I've never been to, not particularly high on my list but I ought to go sometime as my sister is married to an Eyetie. I understand Rome and Venice are the places to avoid as they're rip off HQ - Mrs has done the standard pinoy trip to the Vatican

We've been to Venice recently and it wasn't that expensive. Very lovely and worth every penny especially if you know where to go (some places are a rip-off but we managed to avoid those). Their local pubs (bacaro) are our usual lunch hang-outs. The foods and drinks are relatively cheap and nice Italian atmosphere. We went in winter so probably that is the reason why rates are cheaper.
UKBA,UKBA I am dreading to hear from you...
UKBA, a BRP for Christmas will do...

I've only been ski-ing in Italy...couple of times.

Budget wasn't a problem for me in those heady Thatcherite days.

    Ever considered a cruise?

    http://www.vacationstogo.com/ticker.cfm?t=y

Scroll down to Mediterranean, prices are in USD but can be purchased in pounds using the UK 0800 number.

Cheapest Med cruise for 7 nights on a great ship start at 298 pound per person including all meals. That's 85 pounds per night, cheaper then the hotels you're looking at. In 7 days you could go to 6 or 7 ports in 3 or more countries including Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, wake up somewhere new everyday and then come back onboard.

    Here's a good one to consider: http://www.vacationstogo.com/fastdeal.cfm?deal=17967

This website, I know quite a few people who use it and click on the 90 day ticker to see what last minute deals are available.

Italy is a lovely place to visit, the food is always good, the weather is fine, the people are fun to watch. I recommend somewhere like Bologna or Florence. Both great places for a short break, plus in Bologna you can rent a car and nip over to Maranello. I think you can fly to both locations with budget airlines.

We are going to Rome over Easter. I am looking forward to my tummy being very satisfied

I have been to Italy a few times but not with my wife yet. Rimini, Lake Garda and Venice. If we do go then it would be a round trip of Rome, Pisa (Tuscany) and Pompeii.

One thing i must say is if you are going to Venice do not sit in St Marks Square and order a coffee or any drinks. You will be seriously robbed of Euros. The back streets just off the square are a lot cheaper.

In comparison Ricky's suggestion of a cruise if booked at the right time is top value small change. I suppose if there are tourists prepared to pay £100 a night for a flophouse you can't blame the italians for charging it - never give a sucker an even break

There's no way that I'd pay £100 per night for an hotel room without a private bathroom

The reason I said that Steve, is because I've never paid more than p1,500 in Philippines and that was the most expensive, I've always stayed in Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete and being a regular I've never paid more than p1200 and the place is clinically clean and staff can't do enough for you, been staying there the past 23 years, check out the website!

My budget for three weeks in Philippines - including flights for two and staying in Bethel - also visiting two or three other Islands for a day or two, has never been more than £3000 and we 've always had a great time!

I can only go by my experience, but my woes in choosing a hotel tend to be more me worrying about wanting somewhere nice for the missus to be, but failing to realise she would be more than happy in a place I'd regard as the sort of place Rigsby would be in charge of - as long as it's safe and moderately clean.

In fact by experience, she's not very comfortable being in really posh hotels.

Little thing about Italy btw. I've never been to the place so it's second hand, but I've met a few people who have been to Naples, one lived there - and I'd be too scared to go.

You will have to pay at least that if you want somewhere clean and cockroach free in Makati

Last time i went to Boracay all the places there were charging 3000 pesos a night............
