Any advice on selecting safety footwear

Ive been soaking and filing my feet for the last hour and 20 minutes getting rid of hard skin I remember my dad doing this when we were kids, in front of the fire..he used razorblades, flicking it everywhere
Anyway, are there any safety boots or shoes out there what dont cause as much wear on the soles of ones feet?

It's been too long since I wore them for work to give useful current advice Mark, but have you tried 'double-lined' socks ?

I bought some from Tesco a few weeks back...recommended by a lady working there. They're supposed cut down on the rubbing, and do seem very comfy.

Nice idea but i find the problem with most safety footwear is that they just make your feet too hot
Double lined socks would just add to that

walking socks i use, a little thicker then your normal socks so, plus try insoles too

I used to use the trainer style toe capped ones and they were really comfortable,not sweaty at all.. I tested them out a few times by sticking my foot under passing forklift trucks and then fall to the floor screaming in fake pain..
Used to get some interesting reactions from the drivers to say the least.
Thinking back it makes me shudder at what might have happened!

It depends what you're wearing them for and the time of year.

In winter I always preferred Rigger boots. They're not much good for driving though.

I once had a pair of riggers in the 90s. All that rubbing gave me bald patches on the sides of each leg Hair still refuses to grow there.

That comes with age mate. They'll be bald almost everywhere in another year or two. ...no idea why.

Good suggestion, Michael ... I was given a pair of dark brown walking boots as a present from my daughter & son-in-law more than 10 years ago. They're very comfy and durable.

Damned things take ages to lace~up properly though.

You think about it. .we spend most of our life working which means most of our time in safety boots. We only get one pair of feet, just as well look after them the best we can. ..they'll come in handy in later life

I used to wear 12 hole Dm`s for years..
Gave me weak ankles for about 3 years after I stopped wearing them. Constantly spraining them.
