Cool Australian's hilarious Jollibee order in straight Filipino

An Australian orders food in Jollibee, speaking in fluent Tagalog, much to the delight of the crew

In the video below, Chris takes his Filipino language skills to the next level by ordering food at Filipino fast food joint Jollibee, where he surprises the Filipino staff, and calls the cult classic "Chicken Joy" by a direct translation – Kaligayahan ng Manok.

He also shows off his sense of humor – ordering a "Pacquiao" burger (in reference to Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao), when he really wanted a Champ burger.

"Saan tayo pumunta?" the friend of this American asks (Where are we going?). "Sa kabilang dako ng mundo... Magluluto tayo ng dinengding," he answers. (To the other side of the world. We're going to cook dinengding [an Ilocano dish]) Learn about the other food he likes in this video:-

If only I could reach even half that level

I've set my own targets and I'm determined to get there....even if it means daily paid-for lessons.
I need Tagalog and Bisaya though

I tried to say the alphabet in Tagalog to Harlene, she laughed so hard she nearly fell off her chair!

Keith knows some "naughty" words in Tagalog. It seems that those are the only things he can remember! Although he knows "Magandang araw" and "Maganda ka", which I taught him early on..hahahaha.

My sis taught him a few Tagalog words too the last time we were in the Philippines. Among them are "Sarap manok", which he now regularly says! Hahahaha..

The Rosetta Stone learning program works so far for me (online or DVD for the PC/Laptop). You'll be suprised at how quick you will pick it up using this since Rosetta Stone does not take into account what your mother tongue is and all learning is based on what you see, similar to how a child learns, but it's a bit expensive and only in Tagalog.
I think Rosetta Stone do a trial period too or some kind of money back offer.
It's quite difficult to find any Visayan study books, but for Tagalog if you ever find 'I'd Like to Speak Filipino' by Victoria Carlos it's also helpful. It's just like a basic school book.
