Injury at work
Hi Everyone,
This is all about my husband situations. My husband had accident last October he fell on the stairs at work and broke his 2 ribs.. after 3 days from the accident he went back to work and that's the starts of all the nightmare...Hes on and off at work because all the pain and had infection and etc. he sued the company and they only offered him £3000 which he took from the insurance. Now after few months on and off at work the company decided to terminate his contract and pay him for £2000. My husband is not very happy aside all the pains he have now, And hes worried he cant find a job...We don't know what to do, I think they haven't give him any considerations, considering that accident happen at work...Any advice would be great...thank you x

How did the accident happen and why was it his employer's fault? What was the reason behind offering him £3000?
Just because the accident happened at work, it doesn't necessarily mean that the employer is to blame. It would depend on the circumstances.

Hes not blaming his employer all he wants at the moment is consideration at the end of the day the employer got responsibility to there employee( health and safety) ...What happen was they want my husband to move to different floor while hes trying to move his stuff he slipped on the stairs, the stairs was very slippery and after the accident they put a slippery mat that stairs.( he got that £3000 because the insurance company admit that they have the liable of that accident.

I think your husband was wrong to accept the money in the first place without consulting somebody.
http://www.thompsons.law.co.uk/
These solicitors specialise in Personal Injury and Employment issues and are used by many of the Trades Unions to act for people injured at work. Perhaps they can help if your husband can ring them.
Good luck .

I don't particularly rate Thompsons. At least not the one's based in Oxford.
I had a work place injury and got nothing apart from 7 weeks off work without pay and compensation.
I was told, if I'd made it back home and called in sick it wouldn't have been an issue.
Claiming industrial injury is a hazardous preoccupation.
I made a genuine claim against an old employer years ago, it was successful but, I became a marked man. Management basically sent me to Coventry
Luckily, the claim I made against my current employer is all water under the bridge. The monies I had coming to me, I've made it back 10 fold.

You don't say why they are terminating his contract? If it is to do with the accident then I would seek proper legal advice. If it's for other reasons, then I think you don't really have a leg to stand on. If the company has a valid reason to terminate his contract (once again you don't really say what his contract was)
Not a nice thing to lose a job who ever you are, but I feel that you have only really given us the short version of the story.
Please do not take that how it probably sounds, I honestly don't mean it that way... I just can't think of a better way to phrase it.

Hi there,
The reason of terminating the contact because of his absences, and that absences it's because of the pains and infections he have from the accident... To be honest my husband doesn't after about the money they offered all he wanted is his job. He's very depress don't know what to do..
