    British Pub/Restaurant

    Hi guys and girls,

I've been having a little trouble in searching online for a decent, family friendly, AUTHENTIC, British style pub/restaurant in or around Manila.

Ruby and I shall be heading back to the Philippines this June and we shall be visiting her family and celebrating my 30th birthday there. As Ruby is the only member of her family to have visited the UK, I want to treat them to an "English" (I always think of the Goodness Gracious Me scene when I say that!) meal and experience. We always take stuff out there to try etc, but it would be nice to actually relax and have a proper feel for home, and see their faces when they try some decent bitters and ales for a change

We'll be staying in Obando, Bulacan, just on the outskirts of Northern Metro Manila, and are happy to travel within a reasonable distance to find a place, but I'm literally basing views on reviews I am reading online, but they can be hard to trust, so I'd like to know if anyone here has any recommendations of places. Beer isn't essential, but the quality and authenticity of food is.

Found a few by googling, but I'd rather have genuine experience from here. Most people review only very bad, or ultimate love, so I'd rather ask peoples real experience.

If you are willing to travel to south Manila, i would recommend the Union Jack Tavern in Alabang.
The public bar can sometimes remind you of a local in the UK, as a newbie gets a good who the hell are you stare when they first walk in.
The food is pretty good and they have a decent selection of beers.

They will serve you anything you want at a price

There is a shop attached to the pub that sells food products from the UK. It is a bit pricey for moi.

I've been to a number of pubs in Alabang too, lots of expats about there. Jake ........ does the Union Jack Tavern have a shop attached to it in the shopping mall selling things like tea, teapots, etc. ? If so, I have been there too.

My brother's "local" where he regularly ate English food was the Australian pub in Alabang and also the San Mig pub but I don't know whether they are still there today.

That's the one Not sure about teapots, however they do have a large selection of foods. I am a local, so i cant afford to eat out and shop like these expats!
