Lewis Hamilton Grabs Pole in Malaysia
Lewis Hamilton: "I couldn't see where the track went, where the corners were, where to brake..."
He's reached his 33rd pole position, which equals that of Jim Clark.
A record for a British driver.
Ominously, that German bloke is up close and personal with Lewis again.......c'mon lewis exploit that great piece of engineering and make my village celebrate..

For me, they've ruined it.
Too quiet.
And...if they say the 'efficiency' word one more time, or harp on about how many grammes of fuel etc.
It's supposed to be a SPECTACLE !

I've not experienced it personally, but I've read a lot of stuff about the engines being too quite to satisy some of the fans.
I've read somewhere that legal wrangling is going on about that too....
That's quite true it is supposed to be a spectacle........
From what I've gleaned from our local Merecedes most of these new rules were originally intended to serve a dual purpose.....in addition to the usual F1 race format competitiveness there was an idea of shifting the hugely expensive technology research used in F1 more towards commercial car inovations.
Whether those with influence have got it right or not I guess we'll have to wait and see.
As a fan who watches the races on TV I can't say it's made whole lot of difference ..... but I do think it would make a difference if I'd paid a whole wad of money to be there and couldn'd feel the excitement and passion of the race.

It seems to me that the sport was a lot more exciting (and accessible to the 'ordinary' fan) WITHOUT the excessive sponsorship....just as with Soccer.
Yes, I can understand the companies wanting to use the R & D budget to enhance the engineering and marketing of their future hybrid eco-friendly etc showroom models .
Just pick another motor sport please.
All of this white-coated boffin stuff has got too much now IMO.
This should be about loud and crazy mechanical beasts, piloted by brave and skilful young men, going head to head until ALMOST the death of either or both.

I just recorded a bit of one of the replays of one of my Xbox races this afternoon.
Even though youtube totally screws up the quality and realism, I think I'll just make my own races now, with sound and spectacle . On the actual TV replay, the graphics and audio are now incredibly realistic. (I'm driving the old Ferrari racer, against a field of modern V12 Ferraris).
