Damn it's cold. Well I must admit the second leg of the flight was very pleasurable, especially as the steward insisted that I try all of their expensive wines, including a few glasses of Dom Perignon, hic

, Simon ... I know the temperatures are bound to've sobered you up by now, and you'll be feeling a whole lot better.

Very sad for the Pope's visit to Tacloban as he was forced to leave so early due to the forecasted weather which threatened to ground all flights out.

Really a pity for those people waiting and hoping for a glimspe of him.

Not sure he had any reasonable options........

As usual we watched on TV

My Bro-in-law was at Manila Cathedral yesterday

Well it rained all day here in Davao City. Not a really heavy rain but a pretty consistent downpour.
The temperature varied between 22-24C and felt colder.
Put on a sweatshirt and pair of jeans to go to the local market. First time for long trousers since I arrived. Well except to my visit to the
    Immigration Office

Hope the weather picks up a bit tomorrow. I didn't relocate half way around the planet to wear long trousers and feel chilly

It's been a very pleasant day weather wise.
    Between 26 - 28C . Not too hot.
I was able to get my grass cut this morning and still feel energetic enough for a stroll.
Worked up a decent thirst and decided to have another BBQ dinner.

I seem to spend most evenings enjoying an ice cold beer and a traditional BBQ
Coconut husks as firefighters and coconut shell charcoal. Beautiful.

    Cold mornings to persist

Filipinos will continue to wake up to cold mornings in the first two to three weeks of February.

The northeast monsoon or amihan is expected to persist this month, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The months of January and February are generally the coldest in the Philippines, the weather bureau said.

It expects a gradual weakening of the northeast monsoon in the early part of March.

PAGASA said the coldest temperatures recorded so far in Metro Manila and Baguio City since the onset of the amihan last October were 18.1 degrees Celsius and 10.4 degrees Celsius.

No tropical cyclone is expected to affect the country this week, PAGASA added.

However, the northeast monsoon will still bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol, parts of Central Luzon and Eastern Visayas.

Metro Manila will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Caraga and Davao regions will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

In a climate outlook last week, PAGASA saw a slim chance of tropical cyclone development this month.

It warned the public of big waves over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon and eastern seaboard of Luzon and Visayas due to the surge of the northeast monsoon.

It's a good few degrees cooler here in my part of Davao City.
It doesn't rain everyday but maybe every other day.
The breeze has gotten quite a lot cooler and stronger down on the beach.
Good, makes it a quieter place for exploring.

Siberian winds bring coldest day on Tuesday

The northeast monsoon blowing from the frozen region of Siberia in Russia pushed the temperature down to 18 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila Tuesday morning—the coldest yet for 2015.

And it may get colder in the following days, said Shaira Nonot of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Nonot said the coldest temperature was recorded at 6:45 a.m.

The new record beat the level set last January 26 when the temperature dropped to 18.5 degrees Celsius.

Nonot said the northeast monsoon, or amihan which began in October, usually peaked in January or February. Nonot said cold weather would likely prevail until early March.

The all-time low temperature record in Metro Manila was at 14.9 degrees Celsius on March 1, 1963.

Baguio City also experienced its coldest temperature since the onset of northeast monsoon on Monday at 9.8 degrees Celsius.

Back to 28C today in Davao City.
However, the wind has picked up a bit and it doesn't feel that hot.
Have to be extra cautious not to get sunburnt

Don't know what happened to our weather today
It was very very hot all day. I like hot weather but today was something else.
Both of stayed in the house between 11am and 4pm with a fan going.
We walked to the local market just around 4pm and it was very pleasant with a slight breeze.

Feeling tired now despite being fairly lazy most of the day.

Yeah.. It takes us a good hour a day to water the patches of Bermuda every day, so a ton of rain is always good and gives us a break.

    Thankfully not so hot today.
Lots of locals said it suddenly gets hot with no breeze when a big storm is due

We only had one last week.
The thunder and lightning scared my chicken half to death.

Very pleasant walkabout today, followed by my usual BBQ and ice cold beers.
Couldn't get my usual coconut shell charcoal so tried the wood charcoal. It was alright. Seemed easier to light.
Still using coconut husk as my firelighter it really works treat.

Must go hunting around for some more soon.

A beautifully dry - but cold - morning. Nice and fresh. Don't know what the rest of today will bring, though!

TV news tells us summer is coming from March.
It's going to get hot hot hot

Hope my wife will make it through

We're planning to move to another house in the area. One that's not in the full sun all day long.

Clear and reasonably bright - just off out on the bike to find a spot to watch the Mayflower steam engine come by

I generally get out on my bike every morning.
Looking quite the part in my Muddyfox cycling shorts, shirt, gloves and sunglasses

Don't travel too far away as I need to get back before it heats up.
I've got one of those special backpacks that contain a water bladder and drinking tube.
I trying to create one that can also accommodate some larger ice blocks

Definitely need to consume plenty of liquids here.

    Anyway enjoy your outing Dedworth

The arrival of 1st March produced the announcement that summer was now here.
Lots of advice on how to minimise the downside of hot hot summer. Drink plenty ( always do ) and how to avoid heat stroke etc.
Plenty of advice for us Senior Citizens.

Since then it's been decidedly cooler than at any time since we arrived. Quite a bit wetter too with cool breezes and showers.
