ILR Gained (finally)
After the grief of applying too early I am pleased to say we went to Croydon and had the papers submitted for Rina's ILR today.
I just wanted to thank you all that provided advice on all three visas over the last few years - its been a long journey and almost at an end!
I have just read up on the Naturalisation requirements -
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/br...tnerofcitizen/
and I thought we would have to wait a further year before we could apply for British citizenship, but according to the above site it suggests that Rina has to be in the UK for 3 years from the date of arrival.
Could I ask if that means Aug 17th 2014 is the date we can apply for naturalisation?
Thanks!
Tone

Well done Tone and congratulations to you both
Just one hicup but soon over that......
Under 'old rules' as the spouse of a British Citizen and now that Rina holds ILR she may apply for Naturalisation after 3 years of living in UK.
Tone, the actual date is very important. Please make sure that when UKBA receive the application that Rina was physically in UK 3 years.
For example, if UKBA receive the application on 17 August 2014, Rina needs to have been in UK on 18 August 2011. Better play safe on that one.
When did Rina actually land in UK ??
(periods under Fiancee Visa DO count towards the 3 year residency.

HEHEHE -Peter this is why I tread so carefully after the early application of the ILR back in Nov.
So She landed in the UK on Wednesday 17 AUG 2011, so if we simply send the application on the 18th we should be safe.
That's really good because I was under the impression we had to wait a year.
Thanks again mate.

I already passed the Life in UK exam...
I also took IELTS gaining a total of 6.5 average score in Queens University Belfast...
although, my husband and I only have one bill that is named and addressed to both of us which is our electricity bill...
though I have like 6 docs. myself addressed here in our house and he also have 6 or more...

now its just a matter of gathering the documents which im a bit nervous coz im not sure if what we have is enough or I mean what else is needed...
but I will read up in UKBA site to see all the details... hopefully I get this sorted as need to apply within this month...

Take some time to review the downloadable version of the ILR application form here
.
That should give all the information about the needed documentations.
