But do you consider putting hundreds of thousands of working people through a travelling nightmare a proper challenge to the Mayor of London?

Are you seriously suggesting that part of our rail fare goes to paying people to sit doing nothing all day, this is the 21st Century where we don't need ticket offices.

If I was sitting on my all day doing all, I'd expect to kicked out on my ear or offered a position where I was made to do some work.
What I wouldn't expect is for the rest of the company to come out on strike because they think it's fine for them to subsidise me doing all.

Oh dear, I don't really understand your work ethic of putting the boot in on my fellow workers

    That's hardly unity

I thought only 30% of the members voted to strike, that's not exactly democratic is it?

40% of them voted, out of which 77% voted to strike, therefore only 30% were in favour of a strike

The right wing gutter press would have us believe that anyone who even thinks about going on strike must be worse than the devil = yawn
You're very astute LM :-) (I'm not being sarcastic, either) It's the 'fat cats' who run the country, dictating political agenda. Nothing new here ...it happens the world over

Beach Bum Bob doesn't use ticket offices (interview with ITV)

You have to move with the times. Have you got an Oyster Card? I have one. Most people do. Do we need as many ticket offices as we have? - 'Well that’s the issue at the end of the day…Of course there’s new technology…but it’s how you implement that change.'

But you have an Oyster Card, yes? - 'Yes.'

Do you use it? - 'Yes.'

So you don’t go to the ticket office? - 'No. But if I was partially sighted I couldn’t get an Oyster Card. If I couldn’t speak English properly I couldn’t. Also, if I was disabled and I had problems getting an Oyster Card. You’ve got to look at the minorities of people.'

Let’s talk about justification for the strike. Only a third of all members voted for strike action. Can you justify millions of Londoners standing in the rain tonight? - 'I can justify that because we’ve had a secret ballot and our members can vote yes or no and we respect their wishes whether they vote yes or no.'

But shouldn’t the threshold be higher? - 'Why don’t we have a margin and a threshold for local councils or MPs that are elected? The Mayor for example was elected with only 27% of Londoners. Has he got the mandate to close booking offices down?'

There’s an argument to say the Underground is an essential service…therefore if it was, you’d have to provide a minimum level on strike days… - 'Well a lot of things are essential services. Everything’s essential. Don’t forget, the first people who started ban strikes were people like Hitler before the war…'

Everyone is entitled to a holiday but isn’t the timing of your recent holiday appalling? - 'Not really. The holiday was booked last March. Eleven months ago so what was I meant to do?'

A man on your wage could have cancelled it and booked another one? - 'What and lose the money?'

Amazing how statistics can be manipulated isn't it Are you sure you don't write the Daily Mail headlines with sensationalist stats like that

Another way of putting it is that out of the all the registered voters less than 20% voted labour

    Just a thought

As Bob is all for saving jobs, increasing wages etc Why doesn't the government bring in a minimum rent for council and social housing, so therefore those who need it get it and then if you earn more than the national average wage you could be means tested and your rent could fall in line with the equivalent private rent for a similar sized property in the same area

Good old Bob wouldn't object to his rent being doubled or trebled would he?

Peter Hendy Transport for London's big cheese made £652,000 last year

Boris Johnson only got 17% of the votes in the first round of voting in the London Mayor election

These are the last people who should be talking about pay rates and vote percentages
