    Diane Abbott ate my donation

As revealed in yesterday’s Sun, Diane Abbott took her mind off losing her shadow front-bench job last week by appearing on ITV’s Saturday night gameshow The Chase, alongside celebs Anton du Beke, Denise van Outen, and Matt Le Tissier.

She's a bog standard hypocritical champagne socialist - sent her kid to private school.

Very professional at picking up TV appearance money

Of course Labour MPs don't have a great record on TV shows.

Then again ... those here with long memories, will doubtless recall a certain Anthony Aloysius Bliar pocketing twenty grand apiece - for giving talks of half-an-hour's duration respectively, to three separate Philippine universities a few years ago.

    SCANDALOUS!

Re Tony's Cronies, Labour Hypocrisy, Schmoozers, Trough Feeders etc etc here's a bit of news about another slippery creature who was bigged up on here for fighting the Millipede corner on the BBC :-

Alastair Campbell's job with dictator was 'set up by Tony Blair'

    Good point Marco

    Did you read the article

The outside work was for a total of 1500 hours spread over 2,1/4 years or 115 weeks, so effectively 10 hours a week
    It also goes onto say:-

The MP, who was elected with a majority of almost 20,000 votes in the 2010 General Election, told the newspaper: “My attendance and other indicators are among the highest among MPs, with my expenses among the lowest, and my remaining work outside Parliament is primarily when the House is not sitting and other MPs are on holiday.

So, the answer is a resounding YES, he does represent his constituents rather well

And there lies the crux of the situation, we can all quote history and make arguments either for or against our beliefs, but at the end of the day we stick by them

Nice one Andy for sticking by yours.......... you still wont get me to change mine though

no not a resounding yes, has he done 1,500hrs when the house was not sitting or on holidays, if he did then its not 10hrs per week, more like full time when the MP's were on their long holidays, and when he should have been in his constituency sorting their problems out

maybe its time MP's were forced to do more work than the 30wks a year they 'work' talk about school teachers having long holidays

I make July 2011 to May 2013 quite a bit less than 2 1/4 years or 115 weeks.

However as a lawyer I'm sure that Mr Phillips is an ideal candidate to be an MP and probably a lot better than the trough feeder he replaced. However I don't think it's right when the MP's position can be looked upon as their second job.
This leaves you open in certain circumstances to a conflict of interest which we have seen in the past from members of all parties can shall we say cloud their judgment.
I've believed for a long time now that politics is attracting the wrong sort of people. IMO it should be a calling to serve and improve not to fill your boots.

Marco, my sincere apologies, I was reading the the date at the top (Oct 2013) which would make it 115 weeks. As it is, you are correct and it's nearer 95 weeks.
Thanks for the the reading, and the maths lesson
