Shame Labour didn't feel the urge to do anything about it later then, in THEIR 13 years of power.

    maybe you dont know
they brought in the minimum wage , what did businesses and the Tories say, it would cost millions of jobs as you've seen unemployment was lower under labour.

they took a million kids out of poverty

now i'm sure you agree both of these Graham were good things

I would rather they'd kicked out the millions they allowed in to destroy our country and way of life, never mind paying for idiots to breed more idiots.

Labour have to be the biggest bunch of hypocrites ever to disgrace Parliament.

Awarding each other Peerages and robbing the working class taxpayers.

Deans the Union Convener who caused all this has now resigned.

I doubt if he has any friends left amongst his former workmates :-

The union has accepted a three-year pay freeze and committed not to strike during that period. It also agreed to scrap gold-plated ‘final salary’ pension schemes for staff, who earn an average salary of £55,000.

He'll be allright Jack - his mate Red Len will see to that

    the average means nothing

The Queen pays her staff an average of £44,724, almost 70 per cent more than the national average wage, a National Audit Office report into royal spending shows.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...ort-shows.html

and we know she pays some staff not even the minimum wage, £14k job as a servant

Average wages aside Joe do you think the workers will now feel it was worth striking for Deans?

tell me dedworth do you know if the company was losing money,? or have they bluffed everyone ..

striking should be the last course of action, you've obviously have only worked for decent employers and not needed a union, but not all employers are like that

Striking appeared to be first course of action here over an issue involving a single union convener and as a result it has screwed things up for all the members at Grangemouth

I doubt it Red Len fronted up to the company and it was all out over one dodgy man. Then McCluskey ended up with egg on his face and one would imagine a disgruntled Grangemouth branch

I have been made redundant 3 times all under a conservative government. Always been in work under a labour government so when it comes to supporting the family and putting food on the table there is no alternative.

The sharpest monthly fall in the claimant count for more than 16 years and another record high for UK employment have boosted recovery hopes.

dedworth its not all good news .. another record the Tories shouldn't be proud of

It said almost 1.5 million people were part-time because they could not find full-time jobs, the highest figure since records began in 1992.

i would have thought many of these could claim benefits because of their low wage

lol thats a crazy thing to say-you blame your loss of jobs on the conservatives!
What about the people who at the same time as you were employed under a labour goverment-were out of work themselves?

I bet the Union Heavies in my post #174 were part timers or on zero hours contracts cos that's the hypocritical way the unions and Labour run councils treat their employees

The more I read about this dispute, the more despicable I find Unite's actions!

Protesting on work premises is one thing, but targeting people and their families at home is disgraceful.

Hopefully, Unite members with a conscience will see sense and leave. The sooner this bullying Union fades away, the better.
