Plans to force landlords to carry out immigration checks on private tenants will be piloted in one area before any decision over national implementation after the Liberal Democrats blocked a key element of the scheme.

Well IMHO the Liberal democrats are right to oppose the conservative "knee jerk" solution that will clearly create more problems than it prevents. However I must admit I don't really care if illegal immigrants are forced underground into the hands of unscrupulous landlords.

Well IMHO the Liberal democrats are right to oppose the conservative "knee jerk" solution that will clearly create more problems than it prevents. However I must admit I don't really care if illegal immigrants are forced underground into the hands of unscrupulous landlords.

If you ask me this government are trying to get everyone else to do their job. If they manned the borders properly and carried out the proper checks on people arriving as well as detaining every illegal in centres then there would be no need for this

They'd need a load more "centres" Marco - FYI the 2 at Heathrow hold about 750 undesirables each, I suppose illegals & East Europeans could always be employed to build more Far better would be a bleak island, leaky old tents, plenty of razor wire, attack dogs and brutal ex service guards

I've thought that for a long time Ded. Order a few hundred Transits, handcuffs leg irons and hoods and get some of these unemployed earning a decent wage. Any ex military boys out of work would love a job like that.
