    It's been a long time

Hi folks it's been quite a while since I have been on here. Busy at work and not getting a chance to use the computer as my daughter is always on it.

Well life's been great. We just filed our ILR last month and my wife just gave birth to our wonderful baby girl last Wednesday. It took 41 hours after her waters broke to be born. Both are doing fine. I am now outnumbered in the house

What a beautiful little girl, Congratulations Alan and your wife. Our daughter is just over 2 months now, so we are both in the same boat with helping with feeding and changing. Enjoy this special time.

... WOW! 41 hours ... that sure is one very lo~ong labour ... we're talking 'Guiness Book of Records' stuff here, matey ... Congratulations!! Your good lady is to be commended for her infinite patience in the final stages of the childbearing process.

Good to see you posting here again, Alan; all the best with the ILR.

Welcome back Alan . ...good to see your name back in the mix

I expect your wife will be wanting a second baby now ....I know my wife did. ..

Think yourself lucky you weren't changing nappies 32 years ago like I was with my first born. ..In those days it was terries..no pampers in those days ...well, not disposables what we could afford.

We used Pampers type ones in England, and for travel, and Terry ones in the Phils (where disposables are very expensive).

We were that poor in 1981 we couldn't afford to use pampers and such like....They seemed so much more expensive back then compared to what money I brought home...Wet wipes were a thing of the future..those days it was in the kitchen sink for each nappy change......Didnt feel hard done by That was the norm in those days
We had a twin tub as well..this was on the go all day long washing those endless terry nappies then the'd be hung around the house if the weather wasnt agreeable...ahh It's all come back to me now

We used to get bathed in the kitchen sink first and then the tin bath on the kitchen floor when a bit bigger. (No bathroom, just outside loo).

Later my folks got quite posh when they bought a 'copper' for heating hot water.

That was at our first house in Pontefract in the 1950s...2 up 2 down terrace, which they did actually buy.

It's still there today. I sometimes go by for a nostalgic look.

    Hi Alan
Congrats on the birth of your daughter!
We had a boy last year - fulfilled our lives in so many ways!

Nice to hear you're back too (although I havent been on here that much due to work!).
