you should always use the latest form , if you don't it could cause delays because they might send it back to you for being invalid

I think this is the main change, and hence the updated form:-

IMPORTANT: The Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK (KOLL) requirement is changing on 28 October 2013. From this date, applicants will be required to:
    • pass the Life in the UK test; AND
    • have a speaking and listening qualification in English at B1 CEFR or higher, or an equivalent level qualification.
Further details can be found on our website.

If you have an approved ESOL then this doesn't matter

Ross I'm sure that the previous application form becomes invalid on the date thats on the new application form, if you used it they will probably send it all back to you

As sure as I am to say that unless there's a 'valid until' date on the form this can't be the case, there has to be some sort of transitional period. Otherwise you could download the form on 31st August and by the time you've filled it in the following day it would be invalid.
No point in worrying about anything tonight, I'll give you a definitive answer in the morning after I've checked.

because as she's said, she has already filled out the form and had to get character references, all taking time and probably money.
So, the bit that isn't rocket science, is why not wait till tomorrow until I get an answer from the UKBA, or do you think by downloading the new form tonight and running round getting it filled in will make a difference

Point made Joe, however do you know when the new form became available
I know for a fact it wasn't there 2 weeks ago, when I downloaded it and helped my partner fill hers in. Maybe we should wait till tomorrow

Moy, you have to use the new form. UKBA always states to use the latest form. It may take you extra time reprinting and filling out the forms again but it will save you a lot of problems in the end. The new form must be used for Sept 2013 applications onward. The Dec 2012 form is invalid now.

That's why you need to regularly check the UKBA's website for changes made, especially if you are submitting an application.

Some good news and some bad............

Moy, good news is that the form you have is still valid until the end of October as stated by the checking service we are using in London

Bad news is for all those who who gave Moy unnecessary stress and worry, in future wait till you know the facts before guessing
