How predictable - I think I'm owed an explanation on this policy from Mrs May

Yes Dedworth, she seems not have heeded your previous compaints.
Which, I might add, I totally agree with. (your platform that is, not hers)

Back in July she did reply :-

Proactive targeting of sham marriages is part of a wider enforcement strategy to make the UK unwelcoming to those looking to flout immigration laws. Specialist immigration officers are carrying out regular enforcement and crime operations to target this issue.
The UK Border Agency, in conjunction with the Crown Prosecution Service, has brought successful prosecutions against a number of persons involved in sham marriages for offences under the Immigration Act 1971, Perjury Act 1911, Identity Cards Act 2006, and Fraud Act 2006.
Decisions on whether or not to prosecute specific individuals are a matter for Immigration Enforcement (previously UKBA) and the Crown Prosecution Service.

Dodged my point about the women usually being released without charge - I think I'll ask how many Immigration Enforcement have charged and how many released - might do that one as an FoE request

Spotting potential sham marriages of this sort, it isn't rocket science. In relationships, people can't help who they fall for, however there are patterns. It's simple human attraction.

How many guys for example fancy Susan Boyle?

At this point I'd typed out a long post explaining patterns in relationships, which groups tend to be attracted to each other, which mixture of sexes seem to be the trend. In the end though, it's an open forum, not restricted to members only, and I'm not comfortable posting it.

Suffice to say are the border agencies incapable of spotting a trend? Go work it out!

I'd suspect it is only in the UK where there is an attraction between African & sub Continent Males and Eastern European Females !.
