Really depends WHEN you're going as during the school holidays it's more expensive everywhere. Also what do you like doing? ...sitting in the sun doing nothing or looking at old buildings/gardens or perhaps a sporting activity.
You could always stay at home and have days out.

Steve ... how about considering a 'Thomson Holiday' at the **** Hotel Salou in Catalonia (Capital City: Barcelona) where WE went last October.
Double Room with balcony (facing LARGE, palm~fringed, outdoor swimming pool) for 1 week, bookable on half-board; approximate cost, £700 per couple ... through branches of High Street Travel Agent, Thomas Cook.
Thoroughly recommended!

Here's something different:-
Iceland Northern Lights Break
A stylish, Icelandic-themed hotel stay with breakfast, excursions and travel
Start work on your bucket list with this offer which gives you the opportunity to see some of the most spectacular phenomena in the natural world.
You'll be able to experience the Northern Lights and the Blue Lagoon with our three-night break in Reykjavik - the world's northernmost capital city!
You'll be staying at the brand-spanking new Reykjavik Lights, a sleek concept design hotel which is within easy reach of the Laugardalur activity park,
which is home to Iceland’s largest outdoor thermal pool. After a day's sightseeing in Reykjavik, the hotel’s cool and refreshing pastel rooms offer the
perfect respite, while the minimalist bar's northern nights décor creates the perfect ambience for some light refreshment!
We’re offering a stay in a Double room, with a complimentary upgrade to a Superior Double room subject to availability.
We’ve also included a welcome drink of wine, beer or soda on arrival, a buffet breakfast on each morning of your stay, a half-day northern lights excursion,
an Icelandic horse and blue lagoon tour, as well as access to Laugardalur thermal swimming baths.
We've organised return flights from either Edinburgh, London Gatwick, Luton or Manchester airport, as well as shared transfers.
The northern lights excursion is available until April 15th 2014. Please be aware that the northern lights are a naturally occurring phenomenon, so whilst we hope you will get to marvel at them during your excursion, we can't guarantee that they will be visible.
From £349 per person for 3 nights
Great photo opportunities
