    Looks like a fairground ride.

You need one of these latest ones. Just remember to put 10p in the electric meter.

lolita has already bought this second hand from bro inlaw, its been stored a couple of year, he has been painting and servicing it ready for us, should be on the road in a few weeks, one of litas brothers will find a driver to hire it,

we have planned also to buy a moterella to hire to another brother, to provide us income and also for her brother to earn so he can send his kids to collage,

we plan to build some doors for a stable safe income

Yep...my mate bought four taxis in Manila.

    Ended up near bankrupt.

Even had the newish engines stolen and replaced with high-mileage wrecks when the cars went in for servicing.

As Fred says it takes time. No need to rush into anything Stewart. Plenty of opportunities to make money here if you use yer heid.

Did he actually run the business on a day to day basis?

Have met many a foreigner who starts a business here and it goes bankrupt because they don't actually run the thing properly. Nothing to do with the native population.

Having family work for you in the Philippines is often the ruin of a good business plan here

Lolita has a good honarable family, to rip me off is to rip lolita off, there isnt one of them would shame the family, besides she will only help those who she knows she can trust,

as for me the same principle i apply here, will stand there too, a person only lets you down once, i never give them a second chance,

i will tread my path with caution

Sort of ran it himself...in-between barhopping and chasing women.

He was basically a newbie with money in the bank. The business never got off the ground...probably fortunately for him. He'd even planned to drive one of the taxis himself, in Manila.

Anyway, he learned from his mistakes and has gone on to better things.

Been expat in the Phils for 23 years now. We had a lot of adventures together.

Sounds like you are going to marry a lovely woman Stewart. If you are both on the same page i am sure any business adventures will eventually turn a profit.

Nothing wrong with trying to help the family

Have met plenty of them in my time here. Do i know him?!

Being skint from the word go was probably an advantage when we moved here from Hong Kong. Couldn't afford to make to many mistakes or i/we might have ended up back in the UK

Known as 'Big Phil' when working in Hong Kong.

He blew £25,000 in his first 3 or 4 months in the Philippines, with little to show for it...and that was back in 1990.

He's the guy on the right in this pic...nearest the camera.

I know Phil from the early 90's in the Philippines and then in Hong Kong.

The money was blown in Ermita, Angeles and Sabang!

Trying to think of his wife's name Nicki? Last i heard of him he was teaching in Macau and the wife and kids had moved from Puerta Galera back to her home town of Iloilo.
