Sorry to trouble you again joe but I not sure if my Ghostery is working properly.
I have the little blue ghost icon up in the top right hand of my screen and when I hover the curser over it says "View Ghostery's Findings" but if I click nothing happens.
I can't seem to find any help or info on how to operate it or how to reviews settings.
If you have some time during the day could you help?

If you want to do it properly Load an encrypted linux system on a pendrive and boot from it, Then "sudo apt-get install Vidalia" from a terminal and this will download and install the Tor-network app. Please read "www.torproject.org" for further information. This site provides links to a windows browser version an Android version and also a pre-configured live usb version that you can boot on almost any computer.

I had huge problems after installing that Ghostery. Really slowed me up so much
Took me ages to get my laptop back to how it was.
I've not tried out any other software.

Sorry too technical for you..but have you tried to read about (TOR)The Onion Router, I guess that is what you need if you don't want to be tracked.

Well of course it affects what options are available to you and the effort/resources you put in.
For example go to Google or bing maps and see if it can locate you from your devices mac address?
If you just want to avoid mal ware and adverts it's easy enough to do but if you don't want the large companies bulidings a file on you it might be to late and possibly family and friends may have passed on data about you unwittingly already.
Some people join up to Facebook (or similar services) enter their email address and or telephone number numbers plus name, basic location plus have used their normal is and with out adding friends wonder how it knows who you might want to add..
If your phone number or email address and other data like say your birthday is added by a friend on their address book/contacts list it doesn't matter what you do they the big companies will mine that data.
Facebook recently as many app companies have had bugs where accidently they suck up contact books on smart devices..
