How should I dress for British Embassy?

    Hi guys,
How should I dress for British Embassy?

I have smart short sleeved western shirt with a neck tie and casual smart beige trouses not jeans and black shoes. Will this be ok?

Don't panic John it's not an interview. I wore trousers and a polo shirt. You just hand your paperwork and money over and then take a seat and wait for them to come back to you

Just wear your smart clothes but don't overdress like a congressman going to his assembly. As long as you are presentable, you will be fine.

... jeans, shorts and/or trainers are definite s!!!

John, smart~casual would seem appropriate for the humid temperatures that are a more or less constant feature of cities
    like Manila.

One thing I DID notice at the time my wife, Myrna lodged her application: All security staff wore *neckties (presumably of the "clip-on" variety for safety reasons). Which MAY have "eased my passage", so to speak, in gaining admission to the building and being allowed to accompany her throughout the whole business (apart from the biometrics procedure) as I thought it prudent to
    *dress accordingly that day.

Is it the embassy, or are you accompanying your missus to give in her visa application? If it's the application, then it isn't the embassy but an office rented in Makati.

Tip, if you wait for her downstairs (You aren't supposed to loiter in the corridors and will be asked to move if you try, but you MIGHT be allowed to accompany her inside......bit of luck involved there), then don't order a coffee at that little drinks shop in the lobby. They make coffee with TEA It's strange stuff.
I bet the tea is nice though.

Should be fine accompanying her... submitted my wifes Visa application a few months ago at VFS (Makati) and accompanying her was no problem at all.... Also no problem to both be at the embassy for CNI exchange prior to wedding etc. Have to agree with the coffee though
