Update on my wife Olivia's flight

    Hi all

This is a bit of bad luck but thank heavens nobody was hurt
Can you imagine how worried I was?

I have just found out that they brought in buses to take Olivia to General Santos Airport which is about 3-4 hours away. My only hope is that Olivia can get to Manila in time for her flight tonight?

As they have now shut Davao down for about 24 hours or so while they do some investigations

    Regards Louis & Olivia

    =================================================
DAVAO CITY-- More than 3,000 passengers are stranded on Monday at the Davao City International Airport which has been shut down, following the skidding of an aircraft late Sunday.

Frederick San Felix, airport area manager at the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), said "normal" operations are expected to resume by 8 p.m. after the aircraft is removed from the side of the runway.

On Sunday, Cebu Pacific flight 5J-971 missed the runway upon landing in Davao City, 7:05 p.m. All 166 passengers, including four crew and two pilots, were accounted for.

As a result, more than 80 flights in and out of the city have been stopped, San Felix said. Those flights transport "more than 3,000 passengers" daily.

"We have to wait for the investigators. I don't want to speculate as to what caused the accident," San Felix told reporters in a briefing.

The aircraft, an Airbus 320 which was part of the airline's latest re-fleeting, undergo examination by a team from CAAP Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board, which arrived at noon.

    Hi all

Can anyone help me with this problem?
After catching a bus to General Santos City airport
We live in a world of uncertainty, that's for sure .
Olivia got to that airport , the plane was suppose to leave for Manila around 7.20
But it not leave until 10 PM
The flight to Manila form General Santos City
The poor woman got there 1 hour too late for the connecting
All because of this plane crash at Davao this morning, local time
Can you believe that the Philippines Airlines were shut when Olivia got to Manila?
So there were no-one to help her with some advice.
Just found out that their office should be open at 2 AM their local time.

I brought A one way ticket from Davao to connect with another flight company to take Olivia all the way to London
Because of the crash at Davao Airport, is the Philippines responsible to see that Olivia can get a connecting flight to carry on her journey to London?
    Thank you
    Regards
    Louis

    Hello Louis & Olivia

We were all concerned what had happened as we didn't hear from you until now.

    Anyway congratulations to your both

So very glad to learn that Olivia made it here and that your both together and settling down.

Be sure to go through the usual activities with GP's, Dentists, Banks etc
Get her name added onto council tax bills and as many utilities as you can.

Most of the documents used for UK entry may not be needed again. I'm sure some can be stored away. You never know exactly what you'll need so don't be too hasty.

Have fun and please do keep in touch here.

    Hi Terpe
On my wife's visa, it says, no public funds
Does this mean I can not get her help on any medical treatment at all?
No dental or glasses, and not help from the hospital if she 'God forbid it, should get very ill?

Also Olivia, did tell me that that she can not work for too long hours in a factory, supermarket, or any job that demands long hours

It looks like only a part time work?

But can I register Olivia as my personal carer?
This way I can get some extra income to help with the little expense?

I have registered her with my local GP and this has been accepted ok?

    Thank you
    Regards
    Louis & Olivia

Your wife can register for NHS (GP, dentist, etc.). She can get a free treatment if in case she gets sick. She can also work as many hours as she want to (full time/part time) so get her a NI number. No recourse to public funds means that she cannot get any government benefits (i.e. jobseeker's allowance, housing benefit, etc.) until she gets her ILR, and that includes the benefit she'll get if you register her as a personal carer.

What does ILR mean and how do we go about looking into this?

ILR is Indefinite Leave to Remain. Your wife would be applying this after her 5 year spouse visa (her current visa which is good for 2.5 years plus the extension for another 2.5 years).

Hello Louis and welcome to Olivia,

I'm so glad you made it through your journey and finally found a peace and love together.
You both have some stories to tell from the challenges you needed to overcome and deserve to enjoy a happy life together.

Thanks for returning here to post again. I do hope you'll make some minutes in your less complicated life to visit us here and keep us updated. Also to help others who are following a similar journey with your experiences.

I sincerely wish you both all the best in the next steps.

My wife and I would be happy and honoured to meet you both one of these days so that you can then fulfill you promise of a pint or few of the black stuff

Seriously Louis, drop me a PM so I can maintain a good contact.

(I'm just waiting for confirmation of my flight to Dublin but having trouble with the CFO sticker )

Take care and please stay around

    Hi Terpe
You know I let you all know that my wife and I are going over to visit dear old country Ireland?

We were travelling along the M4 making our way towards Pembroke in south Wales, to catch a ferry across to Dublin.

Well after driving for about 4-6 hours and I am slightly disabled, thank God I have a blue badge

Just before the toll bridge, there is a city called Bristol.
I was a bit fed up with the motorway and we both needed a rest and some food

Anyway the short of the long is, we were walking along hand in hand as you all know how much support I need. My point is this.
I know you all warned me about having trouble when you marry a woman from another part of the world, but I never expect the police to come along and ask me to show me if she had her papers with her? I told the police, in fact we had and we left them in our motorhome and we would be happy to show them if the care to follow us, but oh no this was not good enough for them. Instead they just got a hold of her by the arms and said they would check it out at the police station, I said I will come along with her and my wife needs my protect because we are the only ones who can understand each other's language. They told me to get back to my camper and they would make sure I left the area with a full police protection for me if I don't shut up and get out of town?

Well here I was and I can only walk with the aid of my wife and the walking stick we both share.

I thought it is best to not get on the wrong side of these crunts as the were already mad at the world about something they would not care to share with me, they just told me to fsuck off you old git, now I don't mind someone calling me old, to add git at the end of if and not explain to me what it means?

This was too much for me, I rang my dear old friend who lives in Kingston, not far from our home, and broke down and told him the whole story.

Then he made me realised the police had just kidnapped my wife and I think it this is not allow in this so called law abiding person like our good selves.

Is he right and what can we do to make these cusnts pay for our troubles

What a terrible story Louis. I would make a complaint to the Independent Police complaints commission . I've attached a link to their page which explains how to go about it.

    http://www.ipcc.gov.uk/en/Pages/default.aspx
I would also contact your local MP and consider contacting your local paper.
What a horrible start to your trip to Ireland. I hope you managed to get things sorted out quickly and get on your way to Ireland.

Complaint against Avon and Somerset Constabulary 19th August 2013

    Summary

At approximately 8.00 pm 19th August, 2013 I, Louis Boyce, was attending Southmead Hospital's minor injury unit. Police arrived and accused my wife, Olivia Boyce, of being an illegal immigrant. We were forcibly separated. My wife was terrified and in extreme distress.

Police refused to accept the legal documents I had proving she was not illegal immigrant, refused to allow me to talk to my wife and did not tell me what they were doing with her or where they were taking her. It was not until approximately 4.00 pm, 20th August, 2013, (20 hours later), that I was able to contact my wife by mobile phone. She only knows that she is being held somewhere in Bristol by the immigration service.

I was made to sit in a police car and aggressively and threatened with arrest if I did not hand over the keys to my camper van. The van was searched, but trashed. Food was strewn all over the front seats, everything was tipped out, glasses were smashed and to show the complete contempt the police had for me a potty of urine was emptied across the floor of the living section.

I was then told that I had to leave Bristol and a police car then followed me for approximately 20 miles to make sure I had left the city. I have been very shaken up the incident.

I should point out that I am severely deaf and have a walking disability. The police seemed to be amused my walking disability and would play tricks on me challenging my deafness.

    GOBSMACKED!!!

Thats one word that sums up what I have just been reading.

What can I say Louis but total embarrassment to call myself British in the eyes of this incident.

How can these people call themselves POLICE upholders of the law my they are utter disgrace to the uniform and should be made accountable in the treatment you have both received.

Like bigmarco said contact the local newspaper, get a good legal advice and try and take these b******s to the cleaners.

Take care Louis and regards to the Missus...

Louis, you need to contact and go to a solicitor ASAP. Bring all your documents to prove Olivia is not an illegal immigrant. Keith says that you need to tell the solicitor it's an emergency and then contact UKBA because they are detaining her illegally if you have already shown these police officers her legal papers to stay here in the UK. Your solicitor should be able to do some work for Olivia to be released from wherever she may be. These police officers have gone cuckoo way over the top!!! They are breaking the law, especially when they've seen proofs that Olivia's a legal immigrant!
