Glad you asked, because we have no savings at all yet, just waiting for Wifey to get a job before we can save. ILR application won't be until May 2014 so hope she gets a job soon

I havent read anywhere that you need a particular amount of savings when you apply for ILR, your bank statements, pay slips, p60 should be enough and you should still be living with your husband.
anyway, please check the guidance notes for ILR application for a better understanding of what i am talking about.

she will get a job soon Mic.
It just that im a bit worried because my ILR is due late this year and to be honest our savings went to the deposit of our house.
We might save a few quid but we will surely use it for the test and application fees.

Yes Ynwa, we were a little worried too, just hope the rules don't change, so we'll keep our fingers crossed!

all you need is proof that you have been together for the said 2 years, letters posted to you or both of you at the same address

There's no requirement for any savings at all.

I have never known any ILR refusal based solely on financial reasons.

thanks everyone for sharing. A few bits to worry now. If the rules change I might end up begging in the streets

Hi Peter, have you ever known of anyone being refused ILR, if so for what reason?

    main reasons for refusal -
    applying too early,
not paying the visa fee - bank refused, lack of funds in account.
also applying too late (ie after current visa had expired)

not many people are refused ILR.
